FUJIFILM XF 2x TC WR Teleconverter

It works well with my 100-400, and as advertised. It is not ideal at extreme apertures. Photography is a hobby of mine, not a profession. However, I am a realist and was aware of any limitations prior to the purchase. I would recommend it.

Perfectly Acceptable

As far as teleconverters go, this one is pretty good. It retains AF and IS, but you're going to lose sharpness and the AF isn't as good as on the lens alone, but that's typical. I have gotten, what I consider, acceptable results for professional work, but it's not always 100%...more like 40%. Yes, maybe it's me still learning, but I took my 55-140 f/2.8 to a gig the first day and nailed it. This teleconverter has sweet spots for sure! I didn't by this for my professional work though. I'm only shooting sports games and wildlife for fun. If that's your jam.....well let's be honest Cannon, Nikon or Sony are better platforms. This lets me pretend though. Conclusion. If you're a photographer like me who mostly shoots portraits, events and landscape and wants to dabble in sports/wildlife, than I say heck yes.

I’m an amateur photographer that take pics of nature and sports. I use this in combination with my 70/140 Fuji lens. Work perfect as all other Fuji products, really sharp. Caveats: the gear will become bulky and reduce 2 Fstops. Basically this is more oriented to outdoors and dark skies where you compensate with long exposures or plenty of light. Love it already.

NOT FOR ME

On the positive side, this teleconverter is beautifully built, fits perfectly on my camera and all shooting data is visible on the LCD and viewfinder. I put this on my beloved Fuji 50-140mm f2.8 lens on my XT2 to use in single point continuous auto focus, shooting birds in flight. I hoped the image quality would be acceptable at higher magnification. Shooting at f8, I could only get sharp images that were around the same magnification as the maximum (140mm) of the original lens. I tested it using a fixed target at about 50 yards at maximum magnification (280mm). I went through the lens apertures from wide open to fully stopped down. Using a good shutter speed, single servo, and OIS. I found that f5.6 was terrible, f8 was quite soft, and f11 was best, f16 was OK and it went down from there. I have attached two images taken at 280mm, sized to 100% and cropped to the center. The worst one is f5.6. The best one is at f11. If you use a tripod and shoot slow moving or still targets, this might work. But "forget it" in low light or where there is fast movement or probably most things with an unsupported or handheld camera. Thanks to B&H, I have returned the TC2x. I have ordered the Fuji TC1.4x and I have high hopes. I'll review it.

In Focus From a Distance

I am very happy with the performance of the Focus 2x teleconverter. It does work with my current Fugi XT3 platform. However, I will say that I am really impressed with B&H and their customer support. Over the last several years, I have been able to count on B&H to be on time and on target with the photograph equipment that I have purchased through B & H. They are what they say they are, and have never failed me. I appreciate at, I truly do. It so easy to avoid customers when dealing in e-commerce and sales, but not B&H. If you are a photographer, B&H is a good place to start for the proper level of support.

Is this compatible with laowa 65mm macro lens?

No. At this time, Fuji teleconverters work with a handful of Fuji lenses (they have a 60mm, not a 65). The lenses that it works with are the XF 50-140, the XF 100-400, and the Professional XF 200mm prime, although that lens comes pre-packaged with a 1.4x TC. My understanding is that the teleconverters will also be compatible with some of the new soon to be released telephoto lenses. As always, check on Fujifilm’s websites for the most up to date info.

Typically tele converters are made for a select few pro series lenses and this is no exception. The physical makeup of the converter is limited to certain lenses, the rear element of the converter is too long for many lenses.
