Fujifilm LH-XF23 overview

  • 1Description

Dedicated to the Fujifilm XF 23mm f/1.4 R lens, the LH-XF23 Lens Hood helps to prevent lens flare and ghosting from occurring by blocking stray light from entering the lens, and the hood also helps to protect the lens' front element from scratches and light impacts. This metal hood is a stylish alternative to the hood originally included with the lens, and it includes a dedicated cap to protect the lens during storage or travel.

    Fujifilm LH-XF23 reviews

    LH-XF23 Lens Hood for XF 23mm f/1.4 R is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 34.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from All metal except for cap I love the lens hood, as other reviewers point out it looks good, functions great, and is a superior replacement to the original plastic lens hood. I was disappointed however that the lens cap is flimsy plastic and barely seems to stay on the hood. It could easily get knocked off if hiking around with a shoulder strap, or even in a bag. Wanted to mention this since I didn't see anyone else do so. Was expecting full metal construction including the cap, with a secure cap design.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality product This lens hood it, to put it simply, a top-notch product. I really wish Fujifilm would have included this as the original. It has a low profile, it's metal, solid and looks sexy. My favorite part is that when I am changing lenses, I can set this lens aside upside-down, on the lens hood and not worry about it falling over like the petal shaped original. Sure, you can't reverse this hood, but why would you want to? It's small enough to fit in my camera bag with the hood on unlike the original that came with my 23mm 1.4 lens, which had me constantly reversing the hood to store in the camera bag. In short, this lens is a god-send. Definitely worth the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nicest lens hood I have ever used. I use lens hoods because I do not use filters to protect my lenses. The LH-XF23 hood is an all metal rectangular hood that has a much smaller profile than the standard, plastic, hoods that are provided with the Fuji XF lens. Since the hood is rectangular, it has its own lens/cap cover that fits on the outside of the hood. The standard lens cap is removed to use this lens hood. The design and finish of the hood is outstanding. It does have an eye-candy factor. An added benefit is the hood also fits the XF 56mm f/1.2 lens reducing the number of lens hoods I have carry in my camera bag. It is certainly not a mandatory item, but I do like it a lot. It lowers the profile of these fairly husky FX prime lenses. Surprisingly, the hood does not fit on the XF 90mm f/2. lens.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from svelt, more convenient hood for Fuji XF 23mm f/1.4 lens This add-on item is an improved lens hood for this favorite Fuji lens: rather than storing in an awkward, reversed position on the lens, it remains in place, extending the length of the lens only 3/4 inch, with a slide-on cap. A 62mm filter can remain in place within the hood. I do not know whether this hood protects against glare any better than the circular hood furnished with the lens. I'd give this 5 stars but for its being marketed as an extra-cost accessory that should be sold with the lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Much better than the original This is a much more usable lens hood than the atrocity Fuji shipped with the lens. The original hood was as long as the lens and blocked too much of the OVF. I'm not sure how well it shaded the front of the lens because I never used it. This hood is so much better than the original I'm giving it 5 stars. It's not without issues itself, however. It's a design that bayonets onto the lens, which is good. It's a rectangular shape, which is good. But it's overbuilt with an interior section and an exterior section bolted together. Since it's made of metal, it's really pretty heavy. Given that it fits a lens that's pretty heavy itself, the added weight might bother some people. My X-Pro1 cameras now feel a little more front heavy. It also still blocks a chunk of the view in the OVF (but it's not too bad). But, overall, it's such an improvement over that original hood, I feel compelled to give it the highest rating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than the plastic hood I use lens hoods all the time, to improve photos and to protect the lens against knocks. The optional metal lens hood is much more compact and much more solid than the plastic lens hood which comes standard. It has a big advantage that the lens can be placed front down on a table. At first I didn't like the slide on cap and thought I would just leave it off, but I quickly got used to it and like it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect !!! This lens hood is just what I need. I travel a lot and keeping my kit as small as possible where every inch counts is my priority. The slim profile helps eliminate bumping into things when hanging from the side and fits much easier into my small sling bag. I don’t have to fuss around reversing the original lens hoods from storing to shooting. Build quality is excellent and the unique rectangular design looks so cool and very professional. The fit is snug and secure even when using UV filters. I have two of these; one for the 23mm for which it’s designed for and a second one for my 56mm f1.2 which also fits perfectly. For sure it’s pricey but certainly worth it. Now if Fuji would just make a similar design for my 16-55mm I would be all set to go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Lens Hood for Fuji 23mm So, I went through a lot of research to find a better lens hood for my Fuji 23mm. Like many, I disliked the size of the plastic petal hood that came with it. I like having the hood for protection, and unlike others, I still like having a B+W 007 nano MRC filter on my lens for another layer of protection. I don't get wrapped up too much in the glass over glass debate, and I am happy with my photos and protecting my lens with these both on it. Well, first, I researched a better lens hood. I looked at a ton of cheap ones on Amazon and other places, but I was never sure if they would end up fitting nice and not vignetting on my lens, especially if I want to keep my protection filter on also. I ended up ordering 2 different ones, which were both more expensive. I got a B+W alumnium (circular) hood and a heliopan aluminum (circular) hood. I got them and realized that if I wanted to keep my filter, it barely had any thread on top, so neither held well. This led me to get a B+W f-pro 007 filter instead of the nano MRC thinner one I had. This had more filter on top, but the B+W still would not fit. The heliopan fit well, so I used this combo for many months. It worked well, being shorter and smaller, but I found that the heliopan would come loose every so often, which I disliked. The finish was also a rough aluminum look, and it didn't blend really well. Fast forward to this puppy being release, and I ended up spending the money to get it. All I can say is, thank you Fuji! Finally! This has a heavy aluminum feeling. It locks on the bayonet really nicely and the finish matches my X-T1 and lens perfectly. It is small in depth and gives the lens an even cooler look with the rectangle end. I have been using it for many weeks now, and it has come loose or had any issues. It just feels right on the lens. If I had any complaint, it would be that I found my copy's cap that slides on and off does come off a little too easy for me. Other than that, buy it!!!!
