    Axis Communications 0893-004 Reviews

8-Channel NVR with PoE Switch (4TB) is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not for 8 LED cameras! I purchased two of these 8 channel Companion Recorders thinking they were the perfect match for the new M20 series of lower cost Axis cameras. When I went to plug in my 5th camera in one of the Recorders, the red LEDs came on along with a warning beep. I had exceeded the power rating for the POE on this unit. Non-LED cameras like the Axis 3046, draw very little power, but the true night cameras with IR LEDs require more power...15.4 watts for the M2026-LEs that I bought, so I can only power four cameras on this product marketed as an 8 port POE switch for Axis cameras! I am not very happy. Now I have to buy POE injectors to use the other four ports raising the cost of the solution by the cost of 4 POE injectors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product, work as expected Good product, works as described. Setup instruction a little too simplified. More details on functions / options configuration would have been great. Don't forget that the max POE 60w for all cameras.

Assuming I do not use all the ports for cameras, and assuming I connect the unit to my LAN, can I use the open ports for other network devices?
    Asked by: Randy P.
This is only compatible with Axis cameras that have the latest firmware or Axis Companion cameras. No other manufacturer cameras will work.

Can this be connected to a monitor or TV for viewing or does it have to be viewed on a remote device?
    Asked by: Steve T.
You can add this: Sucks to pay an additional $299 for HDMI output but this will work. Check out Amcrest NVR's. They have numerous models with/without PoE and you can leverage your own SATA HDD. For example, Amcrest NV2108E + Western Digital Purple 4TB Surveillance Hard Drive = ~$277 I couldn't locate the max PoE power specs for this model but you could easily throw in a Amcrest PoE switch for an additional ~$40 (AMPS5E4P-AT-58). Commercial/Enterprise environment AXIS is best 100%. Home/Small business, Amcrest is great.
