  • 1Description

The Sony PSZ-RA6T 2-Bay Thunderbolt 2 Portable RAID Array comes built with two 3TB 3.5" hard drives that deliver a total storage capacity of 6TB for your Windows and Mac systems. This portable drive system is designed to transport large amounts of data between locations safely by featuring an integrated handle along with a rugged design that physically protects the drives. To transfer content quickly, it sports a hardware RAID controller as well as two Thunderbolt 2 ports. Moreover, a USB 3.0 port is on board so you can use it with a wide variety of devices.

Sony has outfitted the PSZ-RA6T with two 7200 rpm hard drives that are configured in a RAID 0 array, which enhances the drive's transfer speeds to 440 MB/s. To fit your changing needs, this RAID array lets you reconfigure the drives in RAID 1 or JBOD. Additionally, the drives come formatted in the exFAT file system, allowing you to access the data on virtually all types of Windows and Mac systems.

Media Management Features

    Sony PSZ-RA6T Reviews

    PSZ-RA6T 6TB 2-Bay Thunderbolt 2 Portable RAID Array (2 x 3TB) is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT PURCHASE - ERASES YOUR STORED DATA do not purchase this hard drive.  It erased all of my storage for the past 1.5 years.  All my work has been erased for no reason and could not be retrieved.  I have been adamantly trying to contact Sony customer service for assistance, as it is still under the 3-year warranty. However, none of their customer service lines is able or willing to assist, claiming they are not responsible for the device.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Anther great product from Sony this is an amazing External Hard Drive, it is a desktop HardDrive yet portable and easy to travel with, thanks for the design, I am using it on the go whenever I am out of my studio to edit using Adobe Premiere, and I use it on location to back my photos from my DSLR when I have a shoot, Highly recommended.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from UPDATE "Data Corruption & lousing ALL data" Hello everybody, if you make a bit of research there are people experiencing (only with the 6TB unit so far) a complete lost of the drive after few days, Raid dismount and erase itself.? I know the drive is REALLY fast, and nothing is around at the same price/speed, BUT READ BEFORE YOU BUY. I count 9 different people experience the exact same problem, me included: 3 days after purchase the drive dismount and erase it (for corrupted files), with the only option of re-format the drive. THERE IS AN UPDATE: The problem is DO NOT LEAVE THIS 6TB UNIT with the FACTORY format of ExFat ! That is the PROBLEM ! If you re-format the drive into MAC OS EXTENDED all is GOOD.? We did a massive Test of copying files and stress the drive and nothing happen as long you keep it MAC OS EXTENDED. IF YOU NEED THE DRIVE IN ExFat DO NOT BUY THIS UNIT ! If you live it in MAC OS EXTENDED it's the faster 6TB Ride unit for the price. I am using it for editing but we have 3 Backup copies per drive (we have 8 PSZ-RA6T 6TB and 24 other backup drives for safety). -Leonardo cyborguniverse.com

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really like this drive! I bought this drive to use as a portable solution to move Avid & DaVinci jobs from one location to another and be able to work right of the raid. And so far it works great for that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great, Fast and Portable! Waited for this unit for about 2 months after it's release .. But it's been worth it ! I use it for first level archiving of SXS XAVC and 4K Raw material back at the hotel after shoot days. Its a great unit for moving large 4K raw files for temporary archiving on location before I return back to the office and archive on Sony ODA. Unit is very fast 440mbps so great for doing Davinici Resolve CC on location . Typical Sony high quality and build very rugged .

    question

It's listed as a portable drive so I thought I'd ask. Does this require a power source or can it be run off Thunderbolt alone?
    Asked by: Jayson I.
It does require a power source in addition to the Thunderbolt cable. I got tired of packing up the AC adapter it came with so I went to eBay and bought an additional one. Now I keep one in my backpack and one at my work desk.
