Tadashi TADAS-TFPR overview

  • 1Description

The PRO Fisheye Lens Protector from Tadashi fits over fisheye lenses with a diameter of 3.5" or less. The Fisheye Lens Protector is designed to protect the front element of a fisheye lens while shooting close-up extreme sports, or in any shooting situation when protection is required.

The protector enables 92% light transmission with less than 2% distortion on the image, and it also causes no vignetting with a 100% unobstructed field of view. This Pro version has been dipped in a military-grade hard coating, which makes it scratch-resistant and more durable than the BASIC version.

    Tadashi TADAS-TFPR reviews

PRO Fisheye Lens Protector is rated 2.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Scratches VERY EASILY -- think of it as disposable Bought one to use on my Sigma 8-16mm lens. Thought it would be good protection for front element when filming action sports to keep rocks/snow/water off front glass. Yeah, it will do that. But it SCRATCHES SUPER EASILY. I put it on ONCE and scratched the inside of the dome. I'm not a clutz nor do I treat my equipment roughly. And I bought the PRO with the supposedly anti-scratch coating. Whatever that's worth. I'd say buy the cheap ones and think of them as disposable. They're not very big, not super easy to put on (not as easy as you'd think). Better to ruin one of these than a front element -- but don't expect these to be much more than a plastic gadget. On a plus note, the micro cloth bag it came in is nice, and they do give you an extra cleaning cloth, a sticker and two extra rubber bands.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from After use: don't waste your $ I left another review (three stars) but could not figure how to modify that one so writing another. Short story: virtually useless. MAYBE if you had a cool shot you wanted to get that would otherwise absolutely guaranteed ruin your lens this might be an option if it were a fast cut in a video. But that's it. Why? As noted before, it scratches really easily (yes, even the pro). It's an absolute DUST MAGNET. Remember making static electricity in science class? Rubbing silk on glass or plastic? Think microfiber on this thing. You can SEE the dust being attracted to this. So why wipe it down? Fingerprints. This is no easy-fitting dome. It takes a bit of wrangling to get it on which leaves fingerprints which need cleaning. Which generates dust. And the thing STILL shows smudges and tiny scratches, even when used only once. If you have the sun in your shot you'll see smudges, scratches, flares, and dust. I plan to use this, oh, probably never. Some may have an application in extreme sports shooting, but it comes at a very hefty cost of image quality. Average my 3 star with this 1 star, and that's still being generous. Great idea. Just not great in application.
