Minox 62235 overview

  • 1Description

Engineered for performance and comfort, this second version of the Minox 8x44 BL HD Binocular strikes a nice balance of form and function. Optically, several technologies, including low dispersion glass elements, fully multi-coated optics, and phase-corrected roof prisms work together to produce bright and clear high-contrast images with true color fidelity. When coupled with its wide angle of view, long eye relief, and wide exit pupil users will be presented with a panoramic and immersive observational experience.

Complementing the optical performance are design details that will make this a binocular that can be comfortably used for long observation sessions. It starts with a lightweight polycarbonate chassis that is resistant to expansion and contraction caused by extreme temperature changes which can cause the optical components to move out of alignment over time, resulting in an inability to achieve a sharp focus. The center bridge is open to provide more surface area to grip for a more secure hold especially in cold and wet conditions. The optical tubes are nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed to be water and fogproof, as well as capable of being submerged to depths of 16 feet.

Optical Performance
  • 8x magnification
  • 44mm objective lenses
  • Compact roof prism optical path
  • Anomalous partial dispersion LD glass elements
    • Increase light transmission for brighter, clearer images
    • Reduce chromatic aberration to limit color fringing and off-axis coma for true color fidelity
  • Phase correcting prism coatings increase internal prism reflectivity, and improve contrast and resolution
  • Fully multi-coated optics limits light loss while further improving image brightness, color rendition, and contrast
  • 410' field of view at 1000 yards
  • Wide 62° apparent angle of view
  • Long 19.5mm eye relief
  • Wide 5.5mm exit pupil
Use and Handling
  • Open-bridge, dual hinge configuration
    • Reduces weight without sacrificing strength or stability
    • Provides more gripping surface area to improve hold and comfort
  • ±4 dioptric correction
  • Large knurled center focus wheel
  • Twist-up click-stop eyecups for comfortable use with or without eyewear
Construction Details
  • Polycarbonate chassis
    • Lightweight and durable
    • Temperature resistant to limit expansion and contraction prevents lens-shift over time that can move the optics out of collimation
  • Nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed
    • Water and fogproof
    • Submersible to 16' (5 m)
  • Broad operating temperature range from 14 to 122°F (-10 to 50°C)

Minox 62235 reviews

8x44 BL HD Binocular v.2 is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Very nice! Short version / Love these. Views are so clear and immersive. Very Very Nice. Long Version: I own Vortex Razor HD 10x42 My wife has Leupold Mojave Pro Guide 8x42 My daughter has Leupold Cascades 8x42 And...Just bought my daughter Nikon Monarch 7's 8x42 I have owned these Vortex Razors a couple years (latest version) We use these mostly for birding. Really was attracted to the Minox because they are not made in China. My daughters & wife's Leupold's were made in Japan as were my Razor Hd's. Minox BL HD 8x44 Made In Germany. The Nikon's are very nice as well all around...made in China apparently doesn't mean poor quality. So...I was planning on Vortex Viper HD at $489.99 But just kept being drawn to these... (I had almost bought them in 2016) I am no professional...but I have good vision and have enjoyed some nice binoculars in this price range. The Minox are better than ALL of the ones I have listed...in my opinion. View is very clear and very enjoyable to look through. My only quibble is the focus wheel...I like the spread out rubber grips less than the typical for Nikon Vortex etc. That said...This is my pick. I will be selling my Vortex Razor's for a second pair of these! Very Very Nice. MTH / NC
