Pairing Leica's design legacy with Panasonic's technological innovation, this versatile wide-angle prime is distinguished by both its optical merits as well as intuitive handling and contemporary functionality.

Designed for mirrorless Micro Four Thirds digital cameras, this wide-angle 12mm f/1.4 lens provides a 24mm equivalent focal length.
The bright f/1.4 maximum aperture is well-suited to working in difficult and low lighting conditions, and also affords greater control over depth of field for selective focus techniques.
Two aspherical elements are featured in the lens' design, which help to maintain a compact form factor as well as help to reduce spherical aberrations and distortions.
Two ultra extra-low dispersion (UED) elements and one extra-low dispersion (ED) element work to significantly minimize color fringing and chromatic aberrations for increased clarity and color fidelity.
The smooth and near-silent autofocus performance complements movie recording applications while the quick operation is beneficial to still photographers.
A manual aperture ring gives tactile control over exposure settings and a dedicated AF/MF switch offers a simple, intuitive means for switching between focusing modes.
The metal construction of the lens is durable as well as splash- and dust-resistant when paired with Lumix Micro Four Thirds cameras for working in harsh environments.
A rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality when making shallow depth of field imagery.

This lens delivers beautiful deep colors. I am amazed that for such a wide lens it has very little distortion. Build quality is excellent and focus is quick. Highly recommended for the Panasonic G9.

I already had a 20mm and 45mm for my micro four thirds camera. This high quality wide angle lens makes this collection more complete. It has already come in handy for its first job. Great optics with very little distortion.

This lens is a pleasure to use, incredibly sharp, great contrast, no distortion that I can perceive. It feels solidly built, operates smoothly and quietly and is beautifully finished as one would expect from a Leica labeled lens. I am addicted to the Lumix/Leica line and this is one of the best in that line, along with the 42.5mm.

This 12mm MFT f1.4 has been an excellent lens for wide gimbal work in low light. I use for filming wedding receptions.

Dissapointed and suprised

I've been using m43 on and off for 2 years, and have been impressed at how good the best m43 lenses are, and how poor some of the other m43 lenses are. Not suprisingly, the more expensive lenses tend to be the better ones, except for the simple lenses like the pancakes. My usual m43 wide angle is the excellent Panasonic 8-18 but I wanted something faster. The Olympus 12mm was good but not great unless stopped down--at which point there was no reason not to use the 8-18 I already had. Reviews of the Panasonic 12mm were stellar and that's what I expected. The good news is that this lens is a fine performer by f/2.8 and on a par with the Olympus 12mm at f/2. But at f/1.4 it behaves like an old-fashioned 1.2 lens, fine in the center, soft at the edges and with the correction m43 cameras apply to keep things rectilnear, pretty awful in the extreme corners. No quality control issues that I could see; the lens behaved exactly the same in all 4 corners and sharpened up beautifully when stopped down. So if you must have the speed and can confine the important stuff to the center (or just stop down) this lens is everything people say it is. It's beautful to behold, and says "Leica." And it might be great for video. Just don't photograph any brick walls at f/1.4.
