Apollo Cloud 4TB Drive is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Personal/Family Apollo Cloud Storage Drive. I see all photos and files of imac desktop computer in the Apollo now and can have assess from anywhere. Apollo Cloud App is very good. How to use youtube links are inside the app. Time machine automatic backup is what I like this drive. I can see usb attached drive to the Apollo for second usb backup. You have to choose one location file for initial setup of Apollo Cloud on mac computer. 3 family members are shared and they make own files and storage to assess anywhere. This is a best holiday buy for me. I am very happy with this. That's why Apple Store carries this quality product. No monthly cloud storage fee is needed now. Technology is excellent.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Loved the concept, not so much the execution After reading the description, I was hoping this device would perform as NAS (Network Attached Storage). And it does, sort of. It was obviously designed with the Apple world as the target audience, as their Windows development was a little behind. It is also aimed primarily at mobile users, which I get. For a desktop Windows user, there are a few hoops through which to jump, but manageable for someone with experience. When first installed, the drive would go into sleep mode and not wake up. The only solution was to reboot the drive. Not exactly a friendly experience. On my home network, I wanted this drive to be available to all users all the time. After rebooting a few times and relocating the drive, it now seems to stay on. However, it also seems to always be accessing. I can hear the heads moving constantly. The drive is mostly pretty quick. There are times though that there is a significant access delay. According to Promise Technology, it should not be possible to read AND write to the drive. I beg to differ. I use the drive, in part, to maintain web pages and doing updates means making changes. Maybe because once it became available on the network I assigned it a drive letter. Would I buy another? Probably not. If internet access becomes unavailable, so does the drive. Until then, I'm ok with it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great products that needs to be updated This personal cloud is really great. You just need to create an account with apollo, register your email and just connect it to your Internet box or your time capsule or else. The drive becomes available and you can save your files to it. There is also a USB 3 connection to save to or from a USB device. It can be used as well as a time capsule device for backups. You can also install the Apollo app on your smartphone and save your files/video/photos from your phone to the apollo, anywhere you are in the world via GSM or wifi. The coolest thing is to be able to view files you saved on the apollo on your smartphone via the app. Therefore, if you are a photographer meeting clients, you don't need to bring your files along with you but can access them wherever you are. There are also several videos which shows you how to use the Apollo and it's a breeze to install and get it started. However, there are a great deal of things that needs to be improved and/or sorted out. Saving or transferring files from or to the apollo takes ages. For instance, 160Mb takes about 10 mins to be saved. A HD of 1GB saved on the Apollo took over 28 hours to be transferred which is insane. The sorting of files is also weird. It does not sort them as 1,2,3,4, etc... but rather 1,10, 100, 101, 102, 103 up to 109 then 11 then 110, 111, etc... Impossible to change the sorting. It does not tell you the size or the number of files you have in a directory. Video files can be read but you cannot stop and read back. You need to wait the video to finish in order to read back your file. In any other applications, if you hit the space bar on a photo or video, it either show the full version of the picture or play the video. On the Apollo, it does not work. Contacting the support is done from the apollo and you cannot contact an email address. Instead, you have to create a special account on their support site in order to correspond. The reply is pretty quick but short and incomplete.
