YUNEEC Typhoon H Overview

This version of the Typhoon H from YUNEEC employs Intel RealSense Technology for enhanced autonomously flying. This navigation aid maps the environment in 3D to help avoid obstacles and provide positional data when GPS is limited or unavailable. Additionally, the hexacopter hexacopter features the GCO3+ gimbal-stabilized, 4K camera with 12MP stills mode, making it a perfect choice for aerial imaging of all types. The Typhoon H's hexa-rotor design offers better flight stability and more precise control compared to four-rotor systems – plus, it means failure of a single motor will not be fatal. The landing gear retracts in-flight, offering an unobstructed 360 degrees of shooting. Carbon fiber parts and folding motor arms reduce the Typhoon H's weight and profile for easy transport – even to the remotest of locations.

This bundle features the ST16 smart transmitter (radio controller), two flight batteries, the Wizard Wand controller, and a soft backpack.

Intel RealSense Technology
  • Intel RealSense Technology enables the Typhoon H to fly autonomously, intelligently navigating around objects and taking both safety and your creative options to the next level
  • The Intel RealSense R200 Camera and the Intel Atom processor module work seamlessly with the flight control firmware to add intelligent obstacle navigation
  • With a combination of specialized cameras and sensors, this system maps and learns its environment in 3D, recognizing each obstacle, planning an alternative route, and navigating around it
  • The module adds downward facing sensors to improve stability, enabling indoor flight as well as outdoor flight when close to the ground, even with poor GPS reception
  • Remembers previously avoided objects for future reference
  • Intel Atom-powered sensor module
  • Dedicated RealSense R200 camera
Flight Control System
No Fly Zones
The No Fly Zone preset locks the Typhoon H's flight ceiling at 400' above ground level at the takeoff point. This feature helps ensure compliance with FAA sUAS operational guidelines. In addition, Geo-Fencing can be enabled to further restrict possible flight patterns, locking the hexacopter within a user-defined radius of the pilot
Dynamic Return to Home
Simply switch to Home Mode and Typhoon H will return and land within 26' of you
Point-of-Interest (POI)
Locks the hexacopter in a circular orbit pattern around the takeoff point. This mode is especially useful for creating a circular "tracking" shot with a bird's eye view. In this mode the camera can still be moved independently
Orbit Me
The Typhoon H flies a circular path around you, keeping the camera trained on you the whole time. This is similar to Point-of-Interest, except locking onto the pilot rather than an arbitrary object
Journey
The Typhoon H will fly up and out, as far as 150', and capture the perfect aerial selfie
Curve Cable Cam
Program an invisible route for Typhoon H to fly along. Typhoon H will fly between pre-set coordinates while independently controlling camera position
Watch Me / Follow Me
Watch Me ensures Typhoon H will stay in one place and always point the camera at you wherever you go. Follow Me tells Typhoon H to keep the camera pointed at you as it moves along with you
ST16 Personal Ground Station
Transmitter (handheld radio controller) and ground station system are combined into one device with the included 16-channel ST16. It features a 2.4 GHz transmitter for joystick operation of the quadcopter. In addition, there is a 5.8 GHz-range receiver for the video feed from the camera plus telemetry data. For ground station functions, it features a built-in Android device with 7" touchscreen
7" Built-In FPV Display
View a live feed on the ST16's 7", 720p resolution display. In addition, it can show telemetry data from the flight controller, such as altitude, GPS coordinates, and remaining battery life. Settings can be accessed via its touchscreen interface
CGO3+ 4K Camera with 3-Axis Gimbal
The included CGO3+ combines a 12-megapixel, 4K camera and a 3-axis brushless gimbal into a single unit designed to capture stabilized aerial video and still images. For live view and remote operation, the camera features an integrated 5.8 GHz video downlink that enables operation and viewing from the 7" touchscreen on the ST16 Personal Ground Station. You can also pair with a mobile device using the free mobile app – available at Google Play and iTunes app stores
Wizard Wand for Two-Operator Control
The included Wizard Wand is a TV remote-style controller that can be used alongside the ST16. This means better videos and photos with one operator piloting the drone and one operating the camera
Airframe Design
One Motor Failure Survivability
A benefit of six rotors is that one can fail without stalling the aircraft. When the flight controller detects a motor failure, it adjusts its parameters to compensate. Maneuverability and performance will be greatly reduced; however, it gives you the chance to safely land the aircraft
Retractable Landing Gear
The landing gear retracts during flight to provide the camera an unobstructed 360° of shooting
Collapsible Design
The Typhoon H features quick-disconnect propellers for speedy breakdown. Additionally, each rotor arm folds down to a resting position against the drone for a more compact profile that is easier to transport
Carbon Fiber Parts
Carbon fiber components are used extensively to decrease weight and increase durability

can you disable the 400 ft above take off ground level? I live in the mountains and this may pose an issue.
Asked by: Steve
Yes. The Height limit can be changed with a program available on the yuneec website. I myself have the Typhoon H and would recommend to everyone

question

what type of card is using for recording video? does it have an internal recording? what file type is used for recording video?
Asked by: abyson
The Typhoon H CG03+ camera takes a class microSD card up to 128 GB. That's where it records video up to 4K and at a 50 Mbps bit rate in H.264 encoding, MP4 file format. The ST16 controller has internal storage, where it automatically records flight telemetry and up to 10 5-minute 720p video files at a rather low bit rate for reference in case of aircraft loss.

question

ios compatability?
Asked by: Anonymous
It's not really compatible or incompatible with iOS, it just doesn't need or use an external cellphone or tablet since everything is already built into the controller already (which is based on Android, BTW).

question

Can this drone carry any extra weight?
Asked by: Anonymous
I am sure it will carry more but you will lose flight time, stability and maneuverability. If the motor is at maximum rpm just to stay aloft it cannot speed up to maneuver and the greater the payload the greater the rpm range needed for stabilization.

question

Looking to purchase my first real drone. Planned on a DJI P4+ but am concerned of late with recent firmware grounding pilots. Does the Yuneec have such limitations? I'm looking to pass the Part 107 test and plan to follow all rules, but don't want to spend $2K on a drone that grounds me all the time!
Asked by: Mark
I am not aware of a firmware update the DJI has put out that grounds pilots for not reason. For example if you live too close to an airport or federal buildings the drone will not take flight. The Yuneec Typhoon H has the same Geo-Fence technology.
