8TB Desktop Drive with Integrated USB Hub for Mac is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value for a 8TB hard drive. Lackluster software. PROS: You can't beat the price for getting 8 Terabytes + an external enclosure with a USB3 hub. It doesn't look half bad, either. HDD enclosed is not terribly fast, but what do you expect for a budget backup HDD? CONS: The software packaged with the drive is awful. Slow. Buggy. Unreliable. Do yourself a favor and invest in 3rd party back-up software. Unless you're using the Windows/MacOS cross-platform drivers, go ahead and format this drive to your native filesystem and leave Seagate's stuff out of your backup process. Your data and sanity will be better for it. In the end, you're paying for a dirt cheap external backup drive. Don't count the software as part of the value, though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for photographers - loads of space and easy to use As a photographer, I need lots of accessible data storage, so after reading the reviews I decided to buy it - and I'm very happy with it. First, it is the size of a paperback novel. It comes pre-formatted for mac (yes I bought the mac version) so it really is plug and play. I was impressed that it uses the Enterprise level internals so it should be well built. It also has two powered USB ports on the front, so if your laptop lacks ports, you can plug in external devices through the 8TB drive. The drive itself is almost silent. Some say it's a bit slow for running applications, but if you think of it as storage for your data, then you can leave plenty of room on your computer for the applications. I had no discernable delay in reading large images or video straight from the external drive. Overall this is a well thought out and stylish storage solution.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good but noisy and came without Mac drivers loaded This drive works very well but it has two shortcomings. First, it is the noisiest hard drive I've ever owned. If you are in a noisy work environment, this will likely not be a problem. However, if you have a quiet (e.g., home office) environment, it may be annoying. The second problem is not nearly as annoying. It is labeled as a Mac drive. However, it is not set up to work on a Mac computer. You need to download the correct drivers. It appears they need to clarify their advertising. Or, maybe I read the ad wrong?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Blew out after 2 months use I purchased 9/20/17. Used it as a Time Machine backup drive (just like I've done with half a dozen other drives over the years). It lasted barely two months before it quit working. I tried it on two different Mac's. Neither could recognize the drive. Disk Utility could not repair it. B&H customer service basically said "Tough luck, contact Seagate." So I am in the process of trying to get it replaced, or get my money back.... BARELY TWO MONTHS USE!!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK, good for what I paid. remember this is a back up drive, it is not made for constant write read use. It is noisy as all these seagates are. I bought because it was cheap at the time and I have formatted it for windows pc's. It seems slow, not usb3 speeds. I know the theoretical speeds you never get, but 80 to 100m/bs should be available and I get that on other drives, this one I was getting 30m/bs. If this continues it will be very disapointing. I have other seagate 8tb drives and I get 90+m/bs, so possibly a fault or issues with the files. Now that I have 6tb on it and will slowly add more back ups it is fine. Also not the first usb3 drive I've used that transferred at usb 2 speeds. I pulled a portable apart and used it in e sata and the drive was fine, so maybe it is the usb/sata interface.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from WARNING: A bomb. My brand new drive (mac version) bought 1 month ago backed up my computer and now won't mount. Tried everything and Seagate has NO PHONE NUMBER. Because the drive won't mount, I can't access my serial number to use their web page. Wasted hours. Am going to scream.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lots of storage for the price Nice to have 8 Tb of storage. A little awkward cable set up but works fine for Time Machine or Carbon Copy Cloner when attached to my iMac and is reasonably fast. I had trouble when attaching it to my network via the router (Asus) but this is probably due to file format or my incompetence.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Product Reviews said devise was loud, was expecting John Force Funny Car type noise. Not so, some low level clicking once in a while. It had trouble backing up with the software as delivered. I erased the disk and then no problem.
