    Black Box U3 2.5" USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A HDD Enclosure is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for cloning my new SSD I used this enclosure to connect my new SSD to a USB 3.0 port in order to clone my old HDD to the SSD. Since it comes up as an external USB drive, no new drivers or configuration were necessary. Since I cloned the new drive and replaced the HDD C: drive with it, I now keep the old HDD in the enclosure, and do backups by simply cloning the C: SSD drive to the old HDD in the enclosure periodically. I then have a ready to boot and run, current system drive with all of my data on it, in case the SSD fails. There's no down side.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for the Surface Pro 4 I wanted a external hard drive to go along with my new Surface Pro 4. The Black Box U3 worked out perfectly with a 500gig hard drive I already had. Plugged the drive in, formatted the drive, plugged it into the Surface Pro 4...it just worked...plugged it into the Surface Dock...it just worked..!! I haven't tried it with an SSD, but I would think the results should be the same. The Black Box U3, is nicely made and preforms as intended. Would not hesitate to purchase this item again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Garbage I usually don't mind inexpensive, flimsy plastic enclosures. However, this one didn't work properly out of the box. The USB connection on the enclosure wouldn't not function consistently. If, with pressure, I pushed in and tilted the connection, and then use gaffers tape to hold it down, then it would work. Constant drop outs while connected to my PC. Didn't bother returning it as I had more pleasure stomping on it and tossing it in the garbage.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not worth Used it for about a month as extended storage on a PS4 (using original hard drive from the PS4 because I replaced it). Data was corrupted and always needed to repair on start-up despite using Eject/Disconnect Properly function. Started using it on a PC. Tends to crash File Explorer on insertion.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for the price. This little unit does the job. The materials are fairly cheap but it is a great price for a SATA III compatible enclosure.
