Not a Bad Enclosure

Good straightforward enclosure. Super easy to install a hard drive in. The power switch is cheap and feels like it could fail at any time, but so far it's been robust. It's fine for a master backup drive.

So far, so good

I bought this in order to house a new 6TB drive. Most other enclosures test up to 4TB: they *might* work with bigger drives, but they just don't bother to mention it. This one says it supports bigger drives and I am happy to say that it does support my 6TB drive fine. The only qualm is that the blue indicator light is too faint to be seen in bright light. As for its longevity, all I can say is that it's been good for a whole week so far :-), but I hope to be able to report good news on that front in a couple of years.

great price, on/off button a bit cheap

Had a MacPro motherboard die but the drive was a newer OWC SSD drive. It's now an external for the new Mac. Took minutes to put together.

So good I bought two

I have a laptop running Windows right now. I plan on getting a MacBook in the future and this external drive is currently working just fine on my PC and it is also compatible with a Mac. I like the high speed USB 3.1. It also has an adapter for use with Mac's USB-C via an included adaptor.

I have an older Sabrent DS-UBLK and it does not work well or at all with a couple of my newer drives. Does this dock work well with all new hard drives?
Asked by: Max
I recently bought a new iMac and it had no firewire port and so needed to get a new enclosure for my Time Machine backup. I had a 3 TB SATA drive that I purchased in 2014 that I moved from its enclosure to the HornetTek Jaws enclosure. It was an easy swap and is currently working as a Time Machine backup for my new iMac.

The overview says: “By supporting USB 3.1, it can handle data transfer rates of up to 10 Gb/s so you can quickly access as well as transfer data between devices.” while the specs say: “(USB 3.1 Gen 1 (5 Gb/s))”. Only Gen 2 supports 10Gb/s, so something is wrong here?
