The Platypod Pro Max Camera Support is a wide, stable, and ultra low-profile platform that allows you to set up a large tripod head, camera, and lens on both horizontal and vertical surfaces.

Measuring 5.3 x 7.8" and only 0.2" thick, the Pro Max Camera Support allows you to photograph or record with a camera that is elevated only slightly higher than the tripod head it is used with. Four reversible, spiked feet that each feature rubber tips on one end can be distributed among five strategically placed, 1/4"-20 threaded holes. Once installed, they can be adjusted to level the platform on uneven surfaces, both indoors and out. For placement on unconventional surfaces and angles, two 2-inch belt shots allow the Pro Max Camera Support to be secured to a cylindrical object or to be taped onto angled floors. Two nail holes are included for permanent or semi-permanent mounting to walls, boards or ceilings; and for quick placement and removal from conventional tripods or quick release devices, 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threaded holes are on the underside of the platform.

When the spike feet and their locking nuts are not in use, a magnetized storage box holds them against the top of the Platypod Pro Max Camera Support. Able to hold up to 300 lb, the Platypod Pro Max Camera Support accepts tripod heads with 3/8"-16 mounts, and is constructed from anodized, aluminum-alloy for durability and corrosion resistance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would recommend this to anyone I bought the Platypod to assist in making timelapse movies without the need of a conventional tripod. It sits well on a high bookshelf. It is sturdy and accepts my Markin ballhead and D800 with a 14-24mm lens without complaint. I can see this getting used on outdoor adventures as well since it can be strapped or nailed to trees or placed on uneven surfaces. You can even screw to the top of your tripod if you need to. A very versatile piece of gear and very easy to take along as it is light and thin. Great product for when you need support but a tripod just won't work.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Just Okay The the knobs of my geared head would touch the plate and always angled downward, so I am ordering a 1 riser to allow enough clearance. A ballhead works fine, but both bases scratched the paint off the plate. Unfortunately Platypod doesn't provide any sort of felt or rubber ring to protect itself like most tripod bases do. The plate is sturdy if you align the plate with the front of your lens, otherwise it is too top heavy. Hopefully the riser doesn't change the weight balance too much. The screws have a nice magnified storage which can also be removed. Unless if you have an uneven surface there is no need to use them. The plate is nice and thin and easily fits into my bag which is the main purpose I bought it. If you plan to use this on the ground, make sure you have a flip up screen otherwise you will be on the ground too to get your shot framed! Or get an app that allows remote viewing to your phone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice product. Great for table top use, where a tripod is impossible. Also can be used where tripods are prohibited. Many uses can be gain having this awesome product. Very strong built and portable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little pod This is surprisingly sturdy and so easy to carry allowing me to get the stability whenever. I have attached my Kupo Max Arm with surprising stability, but would like too see them offer a 6-12 straight extension to get a little height when needed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Camera base The Pod is well made and thought out, and sets up easily. I bought a small mini ball head to keep with it for small camera (ie. GoPro), use, even though I have a larger one if I'm setting up a larger camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great in combination with the Case remote Purchased the Pro Max and the Case Air by Tether Tools they are a great combination. The Pro Max is well built and designed, I use it with my Jobu Gimbal head and it supports the camera, a Nikon D750, extremely well. It is compact, versatile and sturdy, a solid base for a variety of uses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Ultimate Portable Tripod I purchased my Platypod a week before a vacation to Southwest Utah and Las Vegas and after extensive use, I am in LOVE!!! The Platypod weighs so much less than my Carbon Fiber tripod that carrying it was a breeze. I even used it as the ball head plate ON my tripod from time to time since it screws right on. I used it to shoot brackets for HDR work, time lapse, long exposure, and series bursts for other stacking projects. The Platypod is my far the ultimate in extremely portable stabilization and works much better than flexible legged table top tripods (which I also own.) If you are looking for a small, lightweight solution to stabilize your camera using anything from a 35mm prime to a 70-200 f/2.8 this is the way to go!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The answer to a prayer For the countless times I wished for a small, stable support that could hold a heavier lens and DSLR. For the countless times I cursed my "small" attempts at making a mini tripod work, only to watch it/them slowly sag.. For the countless times I wished for something small, compact and tough to fit into small or tight areas. No more. This Platypod Max is the answer to all of them, and no doubt more I haven't discovered yet.
