Gigabyte GTX 1070 G1 Overview

  • 1Description

With an overclocked core and based on NVIDIA's Pascal architecture, the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming Graphics Card provides major improvements in performance, memory bandwidth, and power efficiency over its predecessor, the high-performance Maxwell architecture. It also introduces innovative graphics features and technologies that redefine the computer as the platform for playing AAA games and taking full advantage of virtual reality via NVIDIA VRWorks.

The front panel of the card features a variety of outputs. There are three DisplayPort 1.4 outputs in addition to an HDMI 2.0b output and a DVI-D Dual-Link output. The GTX 1070 is not just about high-resolution gaming. Computationally intensive programs can utilize the GPU's 1920 cores to accelerate tasks using CUDA or other APIs.

This card features Gigabyte's WINDFORCE 3X cooling system. The cooling system uses three large fans with swept blades to whisk away hot air and lower the GPU's internal temperature. The card also has customizable RGB lighting, which supports up to 16.8 million colors. There are numerous lighting options so you can pick the right scheme for your gaming rig through the XTREME Engine utility.

VRWorks Graphics includes a simultaneous multi-projection capability that renders natively to the unique dimensions of VR displays instead of traditional 2D monitors. It also renders geometry for the left and right eyes simultaneously in a single pass.

VRWorks Audio uses the NVIDIA OptiX ray-tracing engine to trace the path of sounds across an environment in real-time, fully reflecting the size, shape, and material of the virtual world.

NVIDIA PhysX for VR detects when a hand controller interacts with a virtual object, and enables the game engine to provide a physically accurate visual and haptic response. It also models the physical behavior of the virtual world around the user so that all interactions -- whether an explosion or a hand splashing through water -- behave as if in the real world.
With Ansel, gamers can compose the gameplay shots they want, pointing the camera in any direction and from any vantage point within a gaming world. They can capture screenshots at up to 32 times the screen resolution, and then zoom in where they choose without losing fidelity. With photo-filters, they can add effects in real-time before taking the shot. And they can capture 360-degree stereo photospheres for viewing in a VR headset or Google Cardboard.
SLI Ready
With a compatible motherboard and a connecting bracket, two or more NVIDIA GPUs of the same model can combine processing power using NVIDIA's Scalable Link Interface (SLI). How the cards work together can be customized to suit your preferences. Alternate frame rendering has each alternating card prepare the next frame, essentially multiplying the capabilities of a single card's maximum capable frame rate output. Each card in the configuration can also be used to improve anti-aliasing by being able to process an image in parallel with the other cards before filtering out jagged edges.

NVIDIA's SLI HB bridge doubles the available transfer bandwidth compared to the NVIDIA Maxwell architecture. Delivering smooth gameplay, it's an effective way to enjoy surround gaming and it's only compatible with the GeForce GTX 1080 and 1070 graphics cards.

Note: The benefits of SLI will vary based on component configuration.
With CUDA, NVIDIA allows applications to hand off CPU-intensive tasks to the GPU. Your GPU is no longer just used for rendering graphics, but it can provide teraflops of floating point performance and accelerate application tasks, from real-time video rendering to fluid dynamics simulation. CUDA is used in many applications and games.
G-SYNC Ready
When used with a monitor that has G-SYNC hardware installed, the monitor's refresh rate will sync and lock with the graphics card's output frame rate. Establishing this sync removes tearing and stuttering which can result from conventional fixed screen refresh rates, especially important for gaming in stereoscopic 3D. An additional benefit of G-SYNC is reduced lag so gamers will benefit from the improved command response time as well.
NVIDIA GPU Boost 3.0
Boosts the card's clock speed in real-time based on the target temperature. If the card is running below the set target temperature, GPU Boost 3.0 will increase the clock speed to improve performance. The target temperature can be reset depending on your preference so you can have the card run more quietly for everyday tasks and older games, and run at full tilt during intense high-resolution gaming sequences.

    Gigabyte GTX 1070 G1 Reviews

GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming Graphics Card is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Fantastic Upgrade! I used to game on a GIGABYTE GTX 750ti and I will tell you that this is one of my best purchases that I have ever made! The GTX 1070 runs a buttery smooth 60fps 1080p at max settings for almost every single game I've thrown at it. The cases where I don't get 60fps is because of my processor being old. The card not only runs fantastically l, but it also looks nice and will fit in with any color build you have because you cannot see the orange on the bottom of the card. I've owned this card for about 2 weeks now and so far I have ZERO complaints! Great price for the performance!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A beast Had the chance to grab this card during a 30 min in stock window. Card arrive very quickly, considering I live in Mauritius. Ordered on a Thursday afternoon and got it monday morning. I took a leap of faith as I knew it would be out of stock fairly quickly, no regrets here. In terms of performance..., if you are looking at this product you know you wont be disappointed. Its a beast, the only downside is (and this is purely on my side) my card is bottle necked by my build. So I would need to upgrade :( Any way 1st time buyer on on this site, easy, quick and no regrets, will do again!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not for Overclocking If you're planning to overclock the 1070, don't get this card as it's factory voltage locked meaning you can't mess with the voltage at all. However, as I only need a little boost (with no extra voltage) on the core clock, this card is perfect for me. Also, please note that the fans can be pretty loud when over 60% use. Never went higher for me however as it keeps a maximum of 70 degrees during high stress.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Would - not - recommend This card works great and it looks good doing it too. However, its way too fast for me, I've always been afraid of speed. So if you like traveling at the speed of light, then go for it. Otherwise, get an integral video card. I was sitting on my desk chair and loaded my game, suddenly it seemed like I was in it, nothing seemed weird, everything was as clear as can be. ( it kind of threw my game off. )

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming I cant express how much better games look and quiet running on top of that. My Dell 8700 with i7 4790 non K 24 GB in Easy OC mode runs it with no bottleneck at all. Using 49 inch HDTV @ 60 Hz anything above that I dont see but the test frame rates were well above 200 on some test. Time Spy 1.0 score was 5536. Great fast shipping as well is a win. Thanks B&H

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would buy this one again for my future kids! I was in a pickle between this graphics card and the Windforce graphics card. I ended up getting a little smaller case which made the Windforce too big for the case. There were a lot of reviews on the Windforce, and not so many reviews on this one. But I will say this, this one is a BEAST! I love it, from looks, to how quiet it is, and most importantly the graphics are incredible!!! I have are ready suggest it to are ready few friends who saw my setup and 1 purchased one!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Defective Could have just been an unlucky luck of the draw. The card sounds like a jet engine whenever I played any game. The fans also don't turn off even when the temps are below 40 degrees and it's still super loud. Also one of the fans never spin even when on full load. My custom fan curves never worked or applied. Seems like the fan control was just broken out of the box. That being said, it still overclocked pretty well reaching 2.1Ghz core and +500mhz on memory
