Phottix Strato TTL Overview

The Strato TTL Trigger Set for Canon from Phottix allows remote triggering of your off-camera flash while maintaining TTL exposure control with your camera. The set contains a Strato transmitter and receiver, batteries, shutter cables, USB cable, lanyards, and a 1/4" adapter.

Running on the 2.4GHz frequency, the transmitter has an LCD display and quick-change buttons to make changing setting changes. TTL adjustments can be made on the transmitter but the system also supports in-camera flash adjustments such as exposure compensation. High Speed Sync is also supported with shutter speeds up to 1/8000 sec. The Strato has a range of 328' and since it's a radio signal, it operates through walls and around obstructions. Choice of 4 discrete channels minimize the possibility of interference. The Strato is also effective triggering manual flash units and the inclusion of shutter cables for Canon allow you to trigger your camera remotely using the transmitter like a long wireless "cable release." The Strato system is future-proof, too. The inclusion of a USB cable allows firmware updates as the features evolve. Both the transmitter and receiver run on included, easily-sources AA batteries.

    Phottix Strato TTL Reviews

    Works great with Nikon!!

It's exactly what I was looking for! Something I could attach to the top of my camera turn it on and fire the flash. I had so many issues with other cheaper triggers and finally invested on something more expensive an I am so glad I found it. Shoots well with my Nikon D810 and SB700. No issues!

Are you able to change the power of the flash through the transmitter?
    Asked by: Jane
No, you cannot. While the Phottix Strato TTL Trigger Set for Nikon, B&H # PH89021, does have EV control so you can increase or decrease the output of the flash, EV control is still based off the camera's initial TTL automatic flash exposure decision, and simply allows you to slightly overexpose or underexpose the camera's output power decision. If you are trying to manually control the power level output by the camera, this trigger set would not work for your desired usage needs, as it does not offer manual flash control from the transmitter. If that is your desire, you would instead have to purchase the Phottix Odin II TTL Flash Trigger Transmitter for Nikon, B&H # PH89069, and the Phottix Odin II TTL Flash Trigger Receiver for Nikon, B&H # PH89067, for your planned usage needs.

    question

Will Strato receiver work with Canon ST-E3-RT transmitter?
    Asked by: Zia
No. Every system has its own unique transmission protocols. That said, check out the Phottix Laso receiver which will work with the ST-E3-RT as it is designed to do this.

    question

Will the HSS work even if my camera does not have the capability for HSS?
    Asked by: Dena D.
Sorry, no. The camera provides all the appropriate timing for signals. Radio triggers convert what would be a flash burst signal created by a Nikon flash into a radio signal. It there are no triggering signals coming from the camera, the Strato TTL radios is just simple triggers. (they can also be used for camera triggering as well).

    question

Why isn't there a second hot shoe on top of the transmitter in this version so I can add my on camera flash above transmitter????
    Asked by: Ashley A.
ps. I have the strato II but don't like them because they won't go past 1/250th... I can still mount a flash on top of my transmitter on camera, but this doesn't make sense that this version wouldn't have the same hot shoe...

    question

Is the Strato TTL receiver compatible with the Odin II Transmitter? I've bought both (from B&H) and I can't seem to get the flash (Nikon SB-910) to fire. Both are set to channel 1. Any help you can offer would be appreciated.
    Asked by: Benjamin W.
Not compatible. You need to get Odin receiver.

The only transmitter that will work with a StratoTTL receiver is a StratoTTL Transmitter.
