Spider Camera Holster 983 overview

  • 1Description

Respond almost instantaneously to unfolding photo opportunities with the purple SpiderPro Hand Strap from Spider Camera Holster. The strap is designed to work with your DSLR camera and lens with or without a vertical grip. Because the bottom of the strap mounts between your camera and any tripod plate, it won't interfere with the tripod mounting – you can leave it attached to your camera. The top of the SpiderPro strap is attached by threading it to your camera's upper strap lug. Both the bottom and top of strap are easily adjusted to the size of your hand.

The strap's curved S-shape and optional, snap-on wrist strap contribute to making your camera feel almost as though it was an extension of your arm. The S-shape is designed to allow unfettered access to the battery door and memory card slots. While it provides added support, the use of the snap-on wrist strap is a matter of personal preference. The foam-padding and leather backing provide both comfort and optimal hand positioning for manipulating all camera controls. In addition, with repeated use, the leather will conform to the unique shape of your hand for a custom-like fit.

SpiderPro Hand Strap (Purple) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 226.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good With Limitations The Spider Holster SpiderPro Hand Strap is well made and comfortable to use however, it does have a limitation that makes it frustrating for me. I use back button focus and when wearing this hand strap, it is awkward and uncomfortable to position my thumb on the back button while still holding the camera level when shooting. I shoot sports and I find it very uncomfortable to use this hand strap for a full game. I can adjust the strap so that I can move my hand around more but then the strap feels too loose and I worry that it will slide off my hand. I think it would be a great strap for someone who does not use back button focus but for me, it's just not practical.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Handstrap for DSLR!!! I hate neck straps and always use hand straps. I use a Spider Holster and have been using other brands of hand straps. Decided to try the new Spider hand strap. Although expensive, it is far superior to any other hand strap and worth every $$$. I especially like that you adjust the tightness by adjusting the plate on the bottom rather than adjusting the strap length. I also love that you can precisely adjust the angle so that it does not interfere with access to the shutter and other control buttons on a battery grip. I bought 2 of these - one each for a Canon 7Dii and Canon 6D which are both outfitted with Canon battery grips. I absolutely love them!!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from bought 2, and wanted them to work, but used these on Nikon F100 and D90. They look great, but can't seem to get them to sit right. The top attachment is hokey. I now have the FujiFilm X-H1, and see that a newly designed SPIDERLIGHT seems to have an improved solid looking attachment on top that might work, but that design is advertised for smaller mirrorless type cameras, rather than a camera that attaches a power grip. Besides, the X-H1 has an available attachment for a hand strap that Spider is not able to use. A lot of money directed toward these, and not much to show for it. Hope others have different results. I May end up satisfied with something much simpler. For now, I search on.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfy + D7200 Compatible This strap seems very high quality. The inside is lined with cushioned velour and the leather wrist strap is supple and comfortable. It took me a little while to get this adjusted to my hand in a secure way. I've only previously used a wrist strap, so this felt somewhat unfamiliar. With the wrist strap attachment, it seems extremely secure. I dangled my D7200 off of my hand with no worry. Unlike other wrist straps, it has a finger cutout for the Nikon shutter position. I'm able to use front and back wheels with no problem. My one true complaint is that the plastic bottom attachment loop is very stiff and at the angle that works for me it juts out oddly. I don't have an Arca plate or similar, so I'm using the supplied washer and screw which work just fine. For reference, I have medium sized women's hands.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Nice Very comfortable, and I'm able to reach virtually all controls that I would normally want to with my right hand digits. Sturdy too - it feels strong enough to hold my camera and lenses, and it feels very secure on my hand. It was a tad cumbersome to install, but not all bad. I don't consider it to be quick release, or as fast to remove/reinstall as some of the others out there, but the plan is to keep it on my camera pretty much all the time. Also, I'll soon be getting an L-bracket that will hopefully stay mounted most of the time, and hopefully these two are compatible. The strap does work fine with my tripod mount. I like it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable & Supportive I ordered both the SpideePeo hand strap and Peak Dedigns Clutch hand strap to compare. While I preferred the easy-release Capture system and the on-the-fly adjustability of the Peak Design Clutch - the SpiderPeo just felt more supportive and natural. With the Peak Design Clutch my hand felt much more restricted in terms of movement, The S-curve of the SpiderPro hand-strap was more ergonomically pleasing, allowing greater hand movement while still feeling supportive. The Peak Design strap is smaller and more streamlined.... but the SpiderPro just feels better. Bonus: I much prefer the option of having a purple SpiderPro strap, versus the mandatory black & red of the PD Clutch.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice feel in your hand Has a great feel in your hand and while shooting. I don't like how it attaches with a bolt in the bottom of the camera. I always need to take it off when going to put camera on tripod or just leave tripod hook up on all the time. If not using the tripod hook up you need to carry the provided allen wrench to adjust the strap out in the field is one of my larges complaints (yes I forgot the wrench on my fist shoot with it, But it does feel great once it is adjusted. I have not removed it yet because so far the feel has been worth the little wrench.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid and versatile I ordered this thru B and H after i saw it being used by Anthony Morganti on his Youtube channel while shooting birds/wildlife. I was looking for something to assist while hand holding when I was disconnected with my Black Rapid Strap. Integrates well with by Black Rapid strap and tripod plates. Strap is adjustable easy to attach to camera. Works with well with my 7D Mark II with battery grip. A little cumbersome to use with verical grip/shooting, but if you leave enough slack in the strap, you can easily remove and replace hand. 4 stars only because of the cost, but probably worth it. Considering some of SpiderPro's other gear
