Panasonic AG-AC30 Overview

Panasonic's AG-AC30 Full HD Camcorder with Touch Panel LCD Screen and Built-In LED Light is at home shooting corporate, event, and indie projects. It features a 1/3.1" BSI MOS sensor for improved low-light performance and incorporates a 20x zoom lens with 5-axis hybrid image stabilization. The lens also features electronically linked geared iris rings for manual control of focus, zoom, and iris. Built-into the top handle is an LED light for illuminating your subject in dim light.

Two viewfinders provide you a choice when operating the camera with either a traditional tilt up color EVF, or a pullout LCD high resolution touchscreen. The LCD touchscreen is positioned above the lens for a more natural viewing experience when shooting handheld. Slow motion recording functionality is included, allowing you to record in Full HD up to 120 fps. The camera records in MP4, MOV, or AVCHD codecs, and features dual SDXC media card slots. allowing you to use relay recording or simultaneous recording.

A built-in LED light illuminates your subjects with a bright (300 lux at 1 meter) beam of daylight balanced light. If the beam is too harsh, an included diffusion filter covers and softens the light. If you need tungsten balanced light, a color conversion filter is included as well.
The integrated 20x optical zoom lens provides sharp images and an equivalent 35mm focal length range of 29.5 to 612mm (16:9). The lens also features a 49mm filter thread.
The camera employs 5-axis hybrid O.I.S. compensating for side-to-side, up-down, forward-back handheld shake.
The AG-AC30 features electronically linked zoom, focus, and iris rings on the lens. The rings are textured for better tactile feel.
The camera shoots and records HD at 23.98p, 29.97p, 59.94i, and 59.94p in MP4/MOV at 50Mb/s. AVCHD recording at 59.94p averages 25Mb/s for FHD, and as well at 59.94i and 23.98p at lower data rates. You can also shoot in 1280 x 720 or 720 x 480i, although that signal is cropped and squeezed.
A selection for super slow motion allows you to shoot FHD (1920 x 1080) at 120 fps.
The camera records in either MP4, MOV, AVCHD, or AVCHD Progressive.
The sensor features a design that moves the circuitry normally found in front of the photosites to the back of the sensor's substrate. this allows more photons to strike the photosites, increasing the sensitivity of the sensor.
An illuminated ring lets your subject know when you are recording by changing from blue to red. Although this is pleasant in appearance, this feature can be disabled in the camera's menu.
You can activate a level indicator overlay, which can be useful to check the camera is level when shooting handheld or with a stabilizer.
The camera incorporates a built-in microphone, and two 3-pin XLR audio inputs for line or mic level input.

Thanks from Chicago, IL. This is a great Camera video at a great price and easy to very easy to use. It is at a great price. I have three of these video cameras' Panasonic AG-AC30 Full HD Camcorder for my Video Production Company Shaymar Media Production in Chicago. I I have to tell you I was going to buy this item from the Adorama camera camera But I changed my mind because of the bad customer support of Adorama camera in New York B & H cameras in New You give superior customer support and will explain to you about the product you want you to buy and if it is the right product for you need. Depending and the product they might give you a better price. Note I said might. I will be buying my products from B&H cameras in New York not Adorama Camera's in New York for these reasons and you should too. Thank you from Chicago, IL Shaymar Mediad Production Smile

I like this camera but there's a couple things that could be improved. The power cable is very short so when using the power cord instead of battery when camera is on a tripod I need to put the cylinder on a table so that it's not just hanging in the air. One other feature I would change is when the time/date stamp is on it's on the left hand side of the image so when the audio levels are showing on the monitor I can not see the time at the same time if someone is talking . But in general this camera seems like a great value for the price . I had better luck with the on line manual than the instructions included but of course I wish all manuals had more exact details and instructions for all electronics in general

Ive used all brands of camcorders and by far the Panasonic has been the least impressive to me. Functionality wise, everything looks great and feels great but the quality of the picture honestly just stinks.

This camera is easy to use, easy to carry around, and takes awesome video! I was able to learn how to use this camera in one day. I have been taking lots of video in different backgrounds, different speeds and have had great success with this camera.

I use this camera for Legal Videos, and so far, it does the job. I'm looking forward to shooting slow motion videos. Hopefully it will do the job as well.

The camera is very good for the money. I got it for mainly doing video depositions. The built-in microphone is sensitive enough that I doubt I will need to use the external microphones that I had been advised to get.

This camera is great. Record very good at low quality lighting and a plus it have his own lamp and I amaze that it don't drain the battery fast. Lightweight but strong. Good zoom and audio. Very friendly to use. I recommend it.

Does this camera work well with IR lighting? I'm a paranormal investigator looking to use a camera for web series.

The Panasonic AG-AC30 does not feature IR Night Shooting unfortunately. You might consider the new Panasonic AG-UX90 4K/HD Professional Camcorder B&H # PAAGUX90 which does have the feature. Is this camera capable of a genloc In case you want to do a three camera shoot? Also does it have a studio configuration package?

This camera does not have a genlock or timecode input I'm afraid. However genlock is not as required for studio settings as it once was. We have plenty of production switchers with HDMI inputs that will work with this camera that do not require genlock from companies like Blackmagic and Roland. The camera offers HDMI output as well as an A/V output for composite. You can connect this camera to a monitor that accepts HDMI signals. If you wish to capture the signal directly into your computer, a capture device would be needed. An example of a capture device is the Magewell XI100DUSB HDMI USB 3.0 Capture Dongle.
