Yamaha MX49 v2 Overview

  • 1Description

The blue MX49 v2 from Yamaha is a forty-nine key music synthesizer that combines more than 1,000 MOTIF XS sounds, class-compliant USB Audio/MIDI connectivity, along with DAW control features and iOS integration. The sounds include instruments like acoustic piano, electric piano, strings, drums, as well as complex eight-element synthesizer sounds. Each voice can be customized and stored, including the on-board VCM (Virtual Circuit Modeling) effects, which are designed to simulate the effects found on vintage keyboards. A performance mode allows for combining voices on the keyboard using dedicated "split" and "layer buttons," handy for creating performances that simulate a whole band playing.

In addition to the tone generator and performance mode, the keyboard is a capable USB Audio and MIDI Interface. Connect a USB cable to a computer and monitor all the sounds from a DAW via the headphone output, or connect to external studio monitors. The audio interface is bi-directional which allows for recording the internal sounds of the keyboard directly to the computer. Connect an additional controller to the computer via the MIDI-in port, or use the keyboard to control other MIDI devices, such as hardware sequencers and groove boxes via the MIDI-out port.

Beyond the USB audio/MIDI port, the keyboard also has a USB to Device port for connecting USB devices for storing the internal data to external memory. WAV files can also be played back directly from a USB stick using this port. An auxiliary stereo mini jack is available for playing back audio from external audio devices like iPods. Additionally, the synthesizer features knobs and buttons for controlling internal sounds, DAW parameters, and VST instruments.

    Yamaha MX49 v2 Reviews

MX49 v2 Music Production Synthesizer (Blue) is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fits my needs perfectly. I needed a keyboard with top quality sounds that didn't take up half the stage, I watched a lot of Youtube videos demoing the MX49 before I purchased it, and I am not disappointed at all. Great accessible sounds, very light weight, It is generating a lot of interest in my musical circles. Last night, it was knocked off it's stand by a musician I was rehearsing with, hit the hard floor on its upper left corner, but turned on without problems. Bottom line, this keyboard in the right hands can help make you a fortune and give you endless hours of enjoyment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great keyboard for the budget conscious This is a very nice keyboard and the black version looks great. It is the perfect size for setting up to the side of a desktop computer system and that is how I am using it. The voices are wonderful and it is a plus to have the Arp and Rhythm features - especially when this is the only instrument available. I watched a video (Pm3evZm3FMY?t=14m19s) on how to set up the DAW but, I don't get the same results. In Cubase, the MX49 should show up under Remote Devices however, I am not getting it. There is a difference though. My download copy of Cubase is Cubase LE AI Elements 9 and in the demo Cubase 8 AI is the running application. I used the link provided in the paperwork and software version 9 is what I got. So, I knocked a star due to the DAW setup issue (for me, a computer/software novice.)

Rated 2 out of 5 by from go listen to it first so many sounds, but most are NOT so good... if you want GOOD piano, get a Casio Privia you want electric piano or organ, get a kurzweil... you want toy sounds, get a cheep casio.. you want REAL SYNTHS< get A real SYNTH... try Moog, Korg, Novation, etc etc... this is NOT a piano, NOT an organ NOT a synth...it is just a mixup. and out of the so many sounds, we found only 20 or so useful.... yes, it has MANY WAYS TO EDIT, but IT IS NOT ENOUGH. you can layer only 2 sounds or so... MUST GET John Melas software to make this thing work... THEN U CAN GET 16 LAYERS ALL AT ONCE. YOU CAN SAVE THESE. without www jmelas gr this mx is half dead. yes, that impiles, it is already half dead. QUALITY of sounds aer NOT MOTIF... outright lies. go hear it yourself... use common sense. yamaha is NOT known for synths in past 20 yrs... OTHER companies are FAR better at synths. good luck peace and musica always pray these lies would stop... k
