I bought this for providing audio during film shoots. The design seems really tough, all metal construction. Looks like something that could be dropped on the floor a few times and still keep working. Good clean amps, but not a huge amount of gain. A few very minor critiques: uses AAA batteries ( I would have preferred AA as everything else on set uses AA), case is easy to open with ballpoint pin but can be put on backwards and then does not quite lock when closed (either make it impossible to put on backwards or it should lock when on backwards), two internal circuit board switches (mono/stereo and low/high power mode) the low/high power switch is hidden and not easily visible. It is a little awkward to have to access circuit board switches to adjust these settings. Overall very happy with the product.

Amazing sound quality and very sleek.

It's a great little headphone amp with great sound. Plenty of head room and the limiter is an ear saver. Hard to remember I'm wired as it's so lightweight and unobtrusive. Burr Brown Amp is impressive as is the urn time of 11 hours on two AAA's. Great alternative to wireless.

This is the best personal wired in-ear amplifier. Great spund quality, balanced input or stereo input (configurable). XLR and TRS input... all that you need for an excelent wired personal in-ear monitoring.

perfect problem solver

I really dislike using a wedge monitor on stage, and instead always request a line from the engineer so I can control my own IEM volume. I use a little Mackie mixer for monitoring when I've got a whole keyboard rig going, but it's way overkill if I'm just playing piano. The Fischer In-Ear Stick is perfect: stereo or mono, quarter inch or XLR, high or low power, and it's built like a tank. A pair of AAA batteries, which lasts upwards of 9-10 hours, is a fair trade-off for the tiny bit of space this thing takes up on my belt. Love it!

How clean is this in terms of hiss and self noise?
Asked by: Braden
I asked this question because the Zoom F6 has such poor headphone preamps that it has a lot of hiss. So I was looking for something like this to amplify the signal to reduce needing to turn true recorder's volume high enough to cause noise. It's different than ground loop issues.

Can this be used on passive and powered monitor systems?

Neither. You would connect this to a return on a stage box, either an aux return, or if you have an extra monitor return.
