Designed and engineered for use by amateurs and researchers to observe the sun, Daystar Filters' 5.0Å Calcium II H-Line Quantum Filter is built with anti-reflection coated BK7 glass and highly-precise electronic tuning. H-line filters are used to study the solar atmosphere, and reveal complex temporal variations in the chromosphere.

Since much solar research is conducted remotely, there is an integrated RS-232 serial port that enables remote viewing of the filter's display and control of its tuning. Daystar recommends using the filter with imaging systems set between f15 and f/20, and runs on 12 VDC power. It comes with a 6' power cord and a set of international outlet plugs for US, EU, UK, and Australia.
