EVGA GTX 1070 FTW overview

  • 1Description

With an overclocked core and based on NVIDIA's Pascal architecture, the EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 FTW GAMING Graphics Card provides major improvements in performance, memory bandwidth, and power efficiency over its predecessor, the high-performance Maxwell architecture. It also introduces innovative graphics features and technologies that redefine the computer as the platform for playing AAA games and taking full advantage of virtual reality via NVIDIA VRWorks.

The front panel of the card features a variety of outputs. There are three DisplayPort 1.4 outputs in addition to an HDMI 2.0b output and a DVI-D Dual-Link output. The GTX 1070 is not just about high-resolution gaming. Computationally intensive programs can utilize the GPU's 1920 cores to accelerate tasks using CUDA or other APIs. This GPU has an adjustable RGB LED that can be controlled in EVGA Precision X OC.

For cooling, EVGA implemented ACX 3.0 cooling technology. SHP 3.0 has more heatpipes and a larger copper contact area for cooler operation as well as optimized fan curve for even quieter gaming. The dual fans feature optimized swept fan blades, double ball bearings, and an extreme low power motor, delivering more air flow with less power and unlocking additional power for the GPU.

VRWorks Graphics includes a simultaneous multi-projection capability that renders natively to the unique dimensions of VR displays instead of traditional 2D monitors. It also renders geometry for the left and right eyes simultaneously in a single pass.

VRWorks Audio uses the NVIDIA OptiX ray-tracing engine to trace the path of sounds across an environment in real-time, fully reflecting the size, shape, and material of the virtual world.

NVIDIA PhysX for VR detects when a hand controller interacts with a virtual object, and enables the game engine to provide a physically accurate visual and haptic response. It also models the physical behavior of the virtual world around the user so that all interactions -- whether an explosion or a hand splashing through water -- behave as if in the real world.
With Ansel, gamers can compose the gameplay shots they want, pointing the camera in any direction and from any vantage point within a gaming world. They can capture screenshots at up to 32 times the screen resolution, and then zoom in where they choose without losing fidelity. With photo-filters, they can add effects in real-time before taking the shot. And they can capture 360-degree stereo photospheres for viewing in a VR headset or Google Cardboard.
SLI Ready
With a compatible motherboard and a connecting bracket, two or more NVIDIA GPUs of the same model can combine processing power using NVIDIA's Scalable Link Interface (SLI). How the cards work together can be customized to suit your preferences. Alternate frame rendering has each alternating card prepare the next frame, essentially multiplying the capabilities of a single card's maximum capable frame rate output. Each card in the configuration can also be used to improve anti-aliasing by being able to process an image in parallel with the other cards before filtering out jagged edges.

NVIDIA's SLI HB bridge doubles the available transfer bandwidth compared to the NVIDIA Maxwell architecture. Delivering smooth gameplay, it's an effective way to enjoy surround gaming and it's only compatible with the GeForce GTX 1080 and 1070 graphics cards.

Note: The benefits of SLI will vary based on component configuration.
With CUDA, NVIDIA allows applications to hand off CPU-intensive tasks to the GPU. Your GPU is no longer just used for rendering graphics, but it can provide teraflops of floating point performance and accelerate application tasks, from real-time video rendering to fluid dynamics simulation. CUDA is used in many applications and games.
G-SYNC Ready
When used with a monitor that has G-SYNC hardware installed, the monitor's refresh rate will sync and lock with the graphics card's output frame rate. Establishing this sync removes tearing and stuttering which can result from conventional fixed screen refresh rates, especially important for gaming in stereoscopic 3D. An additional benefit of G-SYNC is reduced lag so gamers will benefit from the improved command response time as well.
NVIDIA GPU Boost 3.0
Boosts the card's clock speed in real-time based on the target temperature. If the card is running below the set target temperature, GPU Boost 3.0 will increase the clock speed to improve performance. The target temperature can be reset depending on your preference so you can have the card run more quietly for everyday tasks and older games, and run at full tilt during intense high-resolution gaming sequences.

    EVGA GTX 1070 FTW reviews

GeForce GTX 1070 FTW GAMING Graphics Card is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Impressive! After some pondering, and excessive research I chose to purchase the gtx 1070 card to replace my twin gtx 690's in quad sli ....and I'm so glad I did! To give you an idea of the performance aspect, the one 1070 is Over twice as good with higher settings compared to the quad cards after bench testing multiple AAA game titles......Super sweet, a beast packed in a single GPU, with way less heat and power consumption, I'm all for that! BTW, the testing was done with no overclocking. I hope this helps...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good card if not for the thermal pad thing... I'm not gonna come here to rate what my opinion overall of the GTX 1070 but rather my thoughts upon this specific card. The card is great and I have no major issues with it other then the issue with the thermal pads on the card. Although EVGA has handled the situation fairly well, it still was a major time drain for me to fully reasseble the card to install some thermal pads. Additionally it was somewhat difficult to find the page where they explained the process to get the new thermal pads. If you want to find that you have to go to their forums which I didn't realize. Other then that the card has worked flawlessly and the software that comes with it works well too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Card. I received this card very quickly after I ordered it. It was fun to unpack and I installed it next day. The card works awesomely I love it. All my games run without any issues and I can confidently recommend this product to anyone who is looking to replace their old graphic card. The only think I don't like about this card is that it does not have drivers for Windows XP which I still use sometimes, would be nice if they would make drivers available for Windows XP, I mean I do have the picture but I can't scroll through programs because it takes forever to refresh to next line.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superior graphics with less power consumption. You get the best of both worlds with this fantastic card. Moderately priced, but oh so powerful! I purchased this one for my daughter who is a gamer, and she told me she is able to set most of her games to the maximum settings now. Very cool.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect card for the GF Was looking for a great powerful card and the 1070 was right up my alley. Handles all the games the GF wants to play currently and has a bit of power if she ever wants to upgrade monitors. Would highly recommend as a mid range card.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best aftermarket iteration of the GTX 1070 - EVGA! Runs quiet and cool. Pumps out massive power with a significant overclock over other aftermarket options. The LED light can be customized to suit the color scheme of your case. Overall, a great buy, amazing gpu from nvidia dressed up the right way by EVGA. This will blow out any 1080p gaming or content and handle VR and 1440p and even 4k handily.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beast card! Really quiet and powerful. Using it with a 1080p 144hz monitor. Plays all the latest games at least 60fps on 1080p. Barely hear the fans even when gaming. While idle the fans aren't even on. With a custom fan curve the card gets to 58 degrees max while gaming. Would totally recommend this to any gamer.
