Softbox for LED500 Silver Series LED Light is rated 2.7 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice softbox I was initially skeptical of the Dracast softbox because of all the "little pieces" that comes with it, but once I started to install it I realized it was quite simple and took no time at all. I don't think it needs instructions even, it's very straightforward. You really only need four of the "little pieces" to install the softbox, and these four can remain on the light when you pack it up. The other four "little pieces" are for the grid, and having a grid is a nice addition. Overall, the softbox really helps in controlling and modifying the light and is much better than without it. It fits the light nicely and is well made and durable. I will be ordering another.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poorly Designed OR bad quality control I had high hopes for this product, love the lights it's supposed to fit. However the way in which it fits onto the light doesn't feel secure. There are no tabs to insert the softbox rods into on the frame of the softbox, only a small lip on three of the four corners. So that's either a defective unit, or the design is terrible. Even if you do manage to get the frame onto the light it's impossible to tilt the light down once it's on. And the frame extends too far back and looks/feels sloppy. Again though, maybe I received a defective unit. I'm returning mine. I would highly advise you not buy this product. More than that I would highly advise B&H not to carry it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Diffusion paper and barn doors is a better option I do a fair amount of talking heads and thought this would be a nice add-on to the Drascast LED500 Silver Series lights that I purchased. When they arrived I was excited to throw them on but when I opened the box I was very disappointed. There's a few things I don't like. First of all, the box is pretty small so the amount of diffusion and softening of the light source isn't super noticeable ... there is a difference, but the frosted plexiglass that came with the light is almost as good. But I knew its size when I got it, so this isn't so much a problem as an obvious observation. Secondly, I already had barn doors on the lights. So part of the problem is that to switch between barndoors and the softboxes takes about 5 min per light. The barn doors have to be completely removed which involved undoing 2 sets of thumbscrews in all four corners. Then to put on the softbox you had to use a small allen wrench to attach them small adapters that go onto the lights that you then can slide the sticks that support the softbox itself into. Many times in interview situations I want to audition a softbox, and this takes so long to set up it just doesn't make sense. With existing bar doors it's way fast and just as effective to just clip some diffusion paper on. Lastly, the design of the Silver Series lights is pretty poor for use with these softboxes. The clearance between the bottom of the light and the frame is so slight that you can only tilt the light downward a few degrees with the softbox on before the softbox hits the frame. The same problem exists with the barn doors, but for about the same cost, the barn doors with some diffusion paper just seem like a more versatile choice. I plan on returning these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great addition to a great light. First, I am a softbox fanatic. Nothing makes light look as good as a softbox. I was already pretty excited about the look of the light from my Silver Series 500 Bi-Color with the included diffuser on it, but when I added this softbox, I couldn't believe how soft and natural the light looked. I thought maybe this box was too small to make much of a difference, but I was wrong. You can really see the nice soft modeling of the light wrapping the subject. Very well-made product that does its job perfectly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality control. The product isn't the most user friendly and don't expect a quick set up. You have to remove the barn doors by its four crews, then screw in 4 plastic holders for the rods one by one. Then attach the rods, which like a previous reviewer said, one rod cant fit because it has been sewed close where it's supposed to fit. So it gets held together by just the three rods. All together not too practical. Then to insult me after setting it up for the first time and trying to take it apart the white diff material tore at the seam. So it all lasted about 10 seconds until rendered useless. If I could send it back I would but the shipping costs for me would make it not practical. I have emailed their support, so I guess I will see how good that is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Get it! I was a little worried about this since there were no photos and no reviews...but my worries were squashed...took seconds to set up with its simple design but it's durable and high quality...looks professional on my lights too!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor design I bought these along with my Dracast LED500 lights for use in video testimonials. Using a soft box has always been my way of controlling and softening light whether for video or stills. When I got these I thought, they'd go on easily over the barn doors, but that was a foolish thought. I had to remove the barn doors first, screw on the corner mounts and try and finagle the device onto the rods. One of the rods doesn't have a place to engage the softbox so it just sits there. The rods fit very loosely in the mounts so when putting this on one (or two) would fall out - complete frustration. Also, I couldn't get the "notches" in the frame of the softbox to mate up with the yoke pivots. The only saving grace is that this will be permanently mounted to the light so I shouldn't have to deal with putting it on again. Don't buy this. Look for something else.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice but... Attaching to the LED500 is a pain in the rear. Then it limits the movement of the light in the yoke. I was hoping I could attach this and leave it on, but that's out of the question. Also, the LED500 Silver Series comes with a diffuser that softens the light a good bit, so the only advantage is that it makes the light source bigger.
