Lumens?

Lumens?
Asked by: Roger L.
For folks more familiar with lumens: -- from the staff answer of [email protected] / [email protected] / [email protected], ... I calculate this is a ~500 lumen light source (since it's a flat plate source with no focusing element, so dispersion angle is 90°).

question

Can this be used as the main light with ambient light too low or in dark?
Asked by: Jibu
It really depends on the situation. This is a dimmable light, but even at maximum power, it doesn't have a long throw. It serves well as a fill light, and could serve as a main light depending on the amount of ambient light, how close you are, camera settings, the kind of shot you are after, etc.

At 1m (3.3 feet) you will get around 90 lux (2.2 @ 1/50s, 800 ISO)At 0.5m (20 inches) you will get around 300 lux (4f @ 1/50s, 800 ISO)Measured at max bright and full charge, and no ambience light.Cheers!

question

Wanting to use this light for foreground lighting in Astrophotography and night photos. Is the light dimming low enough for this purpose? keeping in mind the exposure will be around 25 seconds.
Asked by: Mark A.
I purchased these lights with the same idea in mind. You will probably find the lowest setting to be still too bright for this purpose. However, since the color temperature is controlled with gels (included) and a diffusor is also included it works, depending on the situation (distance from the camera etc). You can also add more gels to dim it further. Anyway, this is a great light, very portable and the batteries are very long lasting. Im very happy with mine.

question

Why can not I adjust the led angle on the camera? I want this led but I have no possibility to adjust. The GVB GEAR led allows you to adjust the angle, correct?
Asked by: Fabio C.
Yes, the GVB Gear light does allow you to adjust the angle a bit. However the AL-M9 is a very high quality light and it has a 1/4 -20 thread on the bottom of it. That 1/4 -20 thread will allow you to add a Ball Head Shoe Mount like B&H # VECSBH2.https://bhpho.to/2sLlWTP
