Tenba DNA 10 overview

  • 1Description

The graphite DNA 10 from Tenba is a versatile messenger bag that can hold a mirrorless camera with 3-5 lenses, or a DSLR with 2-3 lenses. The camera and lenses fit inside a removable padded insert in the main compartment, and a tablet up to 10" store inside a padded pocket on the bag's interior.

The tapered flap covers the main compartment, providing protection from the elements, and closes via hook-and-loop closures as well as magnetic clips. A removable padded insert provides dividers for organizing your camera gear, and two pockets for smaller accessories. When the insert is removed, the bag is quickly converted from a camera bag to a general-purpose bag that can be used for carrying books, clothes, business documents, and more.

The DNA 10 is made from 600-denier helix with a water-repellent exterior coating. The interior is made from ripstop nylon and brushed tricot. The bag can be worn as a messenger bag with the shoulder strap, or can be carried like a briefcase by the top handle.

Two elastic micro-mesh pockets on the side of the bag, four slip-in pockets on the front of the bag, and two zippered pockets on the flap ensure you'll have plenty of storage.
An adjustable security strap that connects to D-rings anchors the bag in place on your back to keep it from sliding while riding a bicycle.
For extra weather protection, a removable and reversible WeatherWrap cover is included.
A quick-access zipper allows access to your gear without opening the front flap and exposing your equipment to would-be thieves.
A non-slip shoulder pad grips onto your shoulder, while the strap's webbing freely flows through the pad for smooth movement of the bag from front to back.

    Tenba DNA 10 reviews

DNA 10 Messenger Bag (Graphite) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well Thought Out Bag This works great for my Fuji Mirrorless and 3 lenses. It sits upright even when I set it down on the ground, the top zipper is the BEST feature, the loops on the the zipper tabs are awesome when your hands are numb from cold shooting, the removable insert is a nice touch, and it slides over the handle of my luggage when I travel. If using it for airport travel often, I probably would have gotten the larger size so I could fit my wallet and a book in easier. I'm a bit bummed I can't quite find a pocket to fit my wallet easily, but it's still a great bag! I think it looks nicer in person than in the pictures. Also, I have a small build and it's not too bulky for me to carry around.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Fit for Mirrorless setup I own 5L peakdesign but that is too small where it can pack a6300 with 16-70 and one 35mm 1.8 smaller lens. B&H had a good deal on Tenb DNA10, this is the right bag to hold my setup, I can carry extra two more lenses, many accessories, this got many pockets, I can carry my passport, ticket, my papers, mobile , powerbank, filters, flash and even 12" ultra laptop, this is a great bag, high quality and beautiful look. This is million time better than peakdesign 5L. Tenba DNA10 is not too big or too small, the right size, feel and look. Thanks to B&H for a good deal and the gift card which I used to cover my shipping cost.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I would recommend this bag for mirrorless cameras Perfect sized bag for my Fuji mirrorless camera and two extra lenses. Comfortable for a walk around bag. Would ben perfect if it was about 1/2 wider. Top zipper for easy access to the camera without having to open the flap is a nice touch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality, functional, stylish travel bag This is a great bag. At a glance, it looks like a stylish urban messenger bag, but it has a lot of features which make it a worthy camera bag. The inside is customizable with various velcro panels for your camera and lenses, and there are many zippered pockets for your accessories. The clips on the front affix very quickly, and the velcro is quiet, which is very cool (you have to pull it up and out). There's a water bottle pocket, a rain cover, and a a padded shoulder strap. Also, the inner compartment is completely removable to make it into a regular messenger bag. One of my favorite features is the zippered opening that gives you access to the main compartment, without having to open the flap - this gives you quick access to your camera. Also, it has a very high quality look and feel. The only downside is the relatively high price, but I'd still recommend it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as flexible as expected I was looking for a bag to hold 1 DSLR body with lens on it, another lens and to be able to throw in another DSLR with lens when going in a restaurant etc. Plus purse items. The interior basket seemed narrow and couldn't handle all those items as well as I expected. The Velcro closing was really loud. But the top zipper for quick access would help reduce the amount of time you had to deal with the Velcro. The magnetic clips were nice. It had a couple good pockets. It had more of the "camera bag" look than I wanted, but seems really well made, and it's nice that it comes with a rain cover. The cobalt color is subtle blue and the fabric is nice. I'd say it would be good if you carry bodies and lenses separate and no other purse items (wallet, glasses). Well-made, just not right for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I might love this more than my Timbuk2 I got this for my new Fuji camera and it's wonderful! Lots of room for the camera and lenses, plus the charger and extra batteries. The 10.5" ipad pro fits perfect as well. If I had not just replaced my larger Timbuk2 messenger bag, I'd order the bigger sized Tenba for my everyday bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Research What Size You Need These bags are amazingly designed, but no matter how hard I searched I couldn't find a comprehensive review on the size of these when it comes to a mirrorless system. I needed a bag that could carry a GH5, the Panasonic 12-35mm 2.8, the Panasonic 100-300mm & the Olympus 7-14mm. First I order the DNA 8, it was way too small despite advertising a mirrorless system with 2-3 lenses. In reality DNA 8 could fit a GH5 with the 12-35mm attached and one other lens (the 100-300mm was pushing it). After that there was barely any room to fit anything else. Sent the DNA 8 back and ordered the DNA 13. This thing was huge compared to the 8, definitely built for DSLRs and more like a bulkier, large laptop case. Finally received the DNA 10 and it is the perfect size for my above mentioned setup. The inner compartment can be completely customized and make it so the GH5 can fit perfectly on top of the 7-14mm, with the 100-300mm next to those. There's enough room on top of the 100-300mm to fit a much smaller lens like the 25mm 1.7 or two spare batteries, etc. If you're working with only smaller micro 4/3 prime lenses this could definitely fit 5 and a GH5, but if you have some more professional/bulkier lenses this is most likely going to fit 3 of them and your GH5 body with a little extra room to spare. Wish I could've read something like this before going through the hassle of ordering the other two sizes around the DNA 10, but hope it helps anyone else out there who is in the same boat as me. This is an extremely high quality bag and definitely worth the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One week in Mexico. It's near perfect! I just put this bag through the grinder and in conclusion, it is almost perfect. It fit all essential gear, my Fuji xT2 with 18-135mm lens, Fuji x100T, flash, gorilla tripod, water bottle and it performed perfectly. The one improvement I would recommend is bottom straps for the tripod. I found that since it is very light, you almost never have to put it down or take it off, so adding bottom straps for a tripod would liberate the side pockets for more immediate needs. I ended up removing the tripod head from my Gorilla and stuffing it in the back mesh pocket. With the tripod head is limits your movement since you end up hitting the tripod with your elbow. The best part is that the whole bag fits inside my Havana 48 backpacks bottom. One carry on bag, camera on bottom and clothes on top. Going through airport security was a breeze. Top Access: Te top zipper makes getting a shot fast and easy by just digging in my hand and pulling out the camera in one simple motion (no lens cap, I just used the lens hood to protect the front element with no problem of anything slipping from any area of the bag into the main camera compartment. I cannot recommend enough adding a solid hand strap to your camera like the Spider. This made all the difference in the world. I found myself even pulling the camera out of the bag without repositioning my bag toward the front of my body while the bag was strapped in my backside with both straps by pulling the hand strap, something I would not have been able to do securely with any other type of strap. The fact that the Spider keeps its shape made this possible. The separators are well designed and customization seems unlimited with more than enough separators that come with the bag. Water resistance: In Mexico City, it rains almost daily during the summer. I left the rain cover home since the Fuji xT2 / Fuji lens combo is water sealed and the bag got soaked on the outside. But the material dries very fast so there was no problem. But, next time I will bring the rain cover and leave it in the main camera compartment as added cushioning for the lens. The added strap that comes to make the shoulder strap tighter around your torso worked very well at eliminating bounce and I felt that it does eliminate some of the weight from my shoulder, something that I did not expect. It is very inconspicuous and I was almost never asked to check in my bag at museums while my wife had to check in her tiny backpack at most places. I have had many types of bags and this is definitely the best minimalist bag I have had ever. The price is right for the build quality. It feels that this bag can withstand at least 5 years of extreme use without problems.
