The Image MASSter Solo-102 IT G3 Duplicator from ICS offers IT professionals the ability to simultaneously capture from one "Source" hard drive to two "Target" hard drives using an eSATA connection at SATA II 3 Gb/s, a 5 Gb/s USB 3.0 connection, or an IDE connection using an included adapter, all at speeds up to 7 GB/minute. It authenticates drive copies with SHA-1, SHA-2, and MD5, and also supports a variety of other intefaces via separately sold adapters, including 1.8", 2.5", ZIF, microSATA, CompactFlash, Memory Stick, SD, microSD, MMC, SCSI, and more.

When a "Source" drive is cloned to an "Target" drive, each image is saved as a mirror, a Linux DD image, an E01 image file, or an IQ Copy, meaning that only specifically allocated sections of a drive are captured. All "Target" drives can also be encrypted on-the-fly during the acquisition phase to help protect sensitive data during transportation or storage. Gigabit Ethernet connectivity is also offered, allowing users to upload drive images to a Storage Area Network (SAN) for processing and archiving. For those who need to acquire cell phones, this unit can be used as a platform for third party cell phone acquisition apps such as Paraben, XRY, and more. The Image MASSter Solo-102 IT G3 operates using Windows 7.

General Features

High-Speed Interface Support
The Image MASSter Solo-102 IT G3 implements support for SATA II 3 Gb/s via an eSATA connection, as well as USB 3.0 at 5 Gb/s. This unit is designed to acquire today's drives and prepares the user with the hardware necessary to take advantage of tomorrow's hard drive speed improvements, and the unit's duplication technology provides the capability of performing multiple operations simultaneously. Capture and wipe drives at transfer rates exceeding 7 GB/minute. Average speeds are recorded as follows:
  • 100% Capture at 6.9 GB/minute
  • USB 3.0 Capture at 4.7 GB/minute
  • Rugged Design
The Image MASSter Solo-102 IT unit is built in a shock absorbent and rugged case that allows the Forensic Investigator to store, carry, and utilize the unit, in even the tough environments
    Improved User-Friendly Touchscreen Interface
A color touch screen display offers an improved interface with easy navigation, including a wizard mode
    "Source / Target" Connections
One SATA II (eSATA connector) port and one USB 3.0 port are available for the "Target" drive position, one SATA II (eSATA connector) port and one USB 3.0 port are available for the "Source 1" drive position, and one SATA II (eSATA connector) port and one USB 2.0 port are available for "Evidence 2" drive position. The unit includes one IDE adapter and optional adapters are available for 1.8", 2.5", ZIF, and micro SATA interfaces, including adapters for flash media, such as CompactFlash, Memory Sticks, SD, microSD, MMC, and more. SCSI drives can be acquired utilizing 3rd party USB to SCSI adapters and copying data between different drive interfaces, such as an IDE "Suspect" drive to a SATA "Evidence" drive is also supported. The "Suspect" port is write-protected by default to help prevent any accidental changes to the "Suspect" drive's data
    Operational Modes
  • One-to-One Copy Mode: Captures one "Source" drive to one "Target" drive (1:1)
  • Multi Copy Mode: Captures one "Source" drive to up to two "Target" drives (1:2)
  • Multiple Image Storage: Store multiple "Source" drive images using a single "Target" drive
  • Sanitize drives using Single Pass, DoD Standard, or Secure Erase
  • Hardware Accelerated SHA-1 and SHA-2 Hashing functions
  • Standard MD-5 Hashing
  • Upload "Suspect" images to a shared network storage location using the native Gigabit Ethernet interface
  • Multiple Imaging Formats
  • Single Capture: Creates a mirror image of the suspect's drive
  • Linux DD: Supports storing single or multiple DD images (industry standard) on a single "Evidence" hard drive or USB storage device. User can define the size of the Linux DD image segments
  • E01 files: Supports capturing data using the Encase Forensics image file format
  • IQ Copy (optional): Used to capture only allocated data of a suspect's drive, greatly reducing the time needed to make a non-forensic acquisition. It is also used to duplicate drives for IT purposes such as backup, deploy, and upgrade to larger capacity drives
  • "On-the-Fly" Data Encryption
Utilizing built-in AES 256-bit encryption technology, the Image MASSter Solo-102 encrypts all digital data during the acquisition process with minimal speed degradation, for the purpose of safe-guarding sensitive information. The Image MASSter Solo-102 creates a secure key with a user-chosen pass phrase, after which an AES 256-bit encryption key is generated that can be saved to any USB thumb drive. The encrypted drive can be decrypted on the fly utilizing the Image MASSter Solo-102 or any regular PC loaded with ICS' free decryption utility and the USB thumb drive containing the saved key. Users can then safely image the decrypted data to an additional target drive. The Image MASSter Solo-102 supports the AES 256-bit block cipher encryption standard, which has been approved by NIST and chosen in the US as the government standard
    Image Restore
Restore a previously captured DD or E01 image to the original "Source" drive format
    Preview Source Data
Preview the source drive's data utilizing third party applications or using the unit's built-in O/S utilities. The unit's preview capability allows previewing Word, Excel, PDF, text, or multimedia (pictures, video, and audio) files prior to copying data
    Network Storage Support
Upload "Suspect" images to a shared Network Storage location using the native Gigabit Ethernet interface
    Windows 7 Operating System
The Image MASSter Solo-102 runs on the Windows 7 operating system
