Lensbaby Sweet 35 Overview

Have unprecedented precision control over the "sweet spot" of focus in your selective focus photos with the Lensbaby Composer Pro II with Sweet 35 Optic available here with a Sony A mount. This updated tool is completely compatible with the established Optic Swap System and can use any of the numerous optics available. This version improves upon the original Pro model by featuring a metal body as well as an improved tilt function that ranges from 0-15° in any direction.

Bundled with it is the Sweet 35, the widest focal length of any Lensbaby selective focus optic. This curved field optic differs from your standard lens by creating a spot of focus when tilted that can be manipulated in position by tilting the Composer and manipulated in size by manually changing the aperture from f/2.5 to f/22. The optic also offers manual focus as close as 7.5" from your subject. Additionally, it has a 46mm filter thread as well as an internal 12-blade diaphragm for extra smooth out-of-focus areas.

  • Composer Pro II features an upgraded metal body with charcoal gray accents and an improved tilt control from 0-15° in any direction.
  • Compatible with Lensbaby Optic Swap System.
  • The Sweet 35 Optic is a curved field of focus optic that creates a spot of focus surrounded by blur when utilized with tilt. When used straight ahead, the optic functions as a normal lens.
  • Aperture range from f/2.5 to f/22.
  • By using built-in close focus function, the Sweet 35 Optic can focus as close as 7.5" from the subject.
  • Lens construction features 4 multi-coated glass elements, in 3 groups.
  • The Sweet 35 Optic accepts 46mm filters for additional creative shooting techniques.
  • Internal 12-blade aperture diaphragm for smooth out-of-focus elements.

As the Nikon D810 DSLR camera uses the Nikon F-mount lens mount and the Lensbaby Composer Pro II with Sweet 50 Optic for Nikon F, B&H # LELBCP250, is designed for use on the Nikon F-mount lens mount, no other accessory is needed to connect the lens to the Nikon D810 DSLR camera. It will connect directly to the lens mount on the Nikon D810 DSLR camera.

We shoot both Canon and Nikon in my house. Is it safe to assume tht the optics are interchangeable regardless of camera body mount?
Asked by: Gerald
If you have a Lensbaby lens mount designed for use with Lensbaby's Optic Swap System, and have one for each camera brand (one for Nikon, one for Canon), then yes, the Sweet 50 Optic included with the Lensbaby Composer Pro II can be interchanged between lens mounts. The current lens mounts that are compatible for use with Lensbaby's Optic Swap System would be the Lensbaby Spark, Lensbaby Straight Body, and the Lensbaby Composer Pro II lens mounts.

Yes, any of our Canon mounted lenses will be compatible with your camera. They will work in aperture priority mode and your in-camera light meter should work.

question

I have a lensbaby sweet 56 and purchased it to create the effect of a sharp prime image with blur surrounding. It is a very nice lens, but it doesnt seem to do any more than my 50 mm normal. Open wide and shoot. Same effect. Is this lens any different as far as achieving a blur around the outside? Does it only allow you to move the sweet spot, yet still utilizing a wide open aperture to get the blurring effect? In other words, will my 50mm prime create the same effect? (Except, of course) the sweet spot movement.
Asked by: M Edward
We don't have a Sweet 56. We have a Composer Pro II with Sweet 50 Optic (pictured here) or we have a Velvet 56 which is a stand alone lens. Two different products and effects. The Composer Pro II with Sweet 50 Optic (pictured here) is 50mm, will give you a sweet spot of focus surrounded by a soft blur. Adjust the aperture for more or less of the soft blur. The Composer Pro II is optic swappable so you can take the Sweet 50 Optic out and put in a new optic for a new effect. It also has a ball-joint so you can move the sweet spot around your frame. If you have issues with a different lens of ours, feel free to reach out directly to Lensbaby and we're happy to help.
