Lensbaby Sweet 50 Overview

Draw more attention to your subject with a circular spot of focus surrounded by a beautifully blurred background by using the Lensbaby Composer Pro II with Sweet 50 Optic, available here with a Sony E mount. This updated tool is completely compatible with the established Optic Swap System and can use any of the numerous optics available. This version improves upon the original Pro model by featuring a metal body as well as an improved tilt function that ranges from 0-15° in any direction.

Bundled with it is the Sweet 50, which offers a normal perspective on full-frame cameras. This curved field optic differs from your standard lens by creating a spot of focus when tilted that can be manipulated in position by tilting the Composer and manipulated in size by manually changing the aperture from f/2.5 to 22. The optic also offers manual focus as close as 15" from your subject. Additionally, the Sweet 50 has a 46mm filter thread as well as an internal 12-blade diaphragm for extra smooth out-of-focus areas.

  • Composer Pro II features an upgraded metal body with charcoal gray accents and an improved tilt control from 0-15° in any direction.
  • Compatible with Lensbaby Optic Swap System.
  • The Sweet 50 Optic is a curved field of focus optic that creates a spot of focus surrounded by blur when utilized with tilt. When used straight ahead, the optic functions as a normal lens.
  • Aperture range from f/2.5 to 22.
  • By using built-in close focus function, the Sweet 50 Optic can focus as close as 15" from the subject.
  • Lens construction features two multi-coated glass elements in 1 group.
  • The Sweet 50 Optic accepts 46mm filters for additional creative shooting techniques.
  • Internal 12-blade aperture diaphragm for smooth out-of-focus elements.

As the Nikon D810 DSLR camera uses the Nikon F-mount lens mount and the Lensbaby Composer Pro II with Sweet 50 Optic for Nikon F, B&H # LELBCP250, is designed for use on the Nikon F-mount lens mount, no other accessory is needed to connect the lens to the Nikon D810 DSLR camera. It will connect directly to the lens mount on the Nikon D810 DSLR camera.

We shoot both Canon and Nikon in my house. Is it safe to assume tht the optics are interchangeable regardless of camera body mount?
Asked by: Gerald
If you have a Lensbaby lens mount designed for use with Lensbaby's Optic Swap System, and have one for each camera brand (one for Nikon, one for Canon), then yes, the Sweet 50 Optic included with the Lensbaby Composer Pro II can be interchanged between lens mounts. The current lens mounts that are compatible for use with Lensbaby's Optic Swap System would be the Lensbaby Spark, Lensbaby Straight Body, and the Lensbaby Composer Pro II lens mounts.
