Audio-Technica Consumer ATH-ANC70 overview

  • 1Description

Offering high-fidelity sound with noise cancellation in a compact and lightweight (at 7.7 oz) package, the closed-back ATH-ANC70 Headphones from Audio-Technica are designed as travel companions for audiophiles on the go.

The headphones feature Audio-Technica's QuietPoint active noise-cancelling technology which reduces environmental noise by up to 90%, letting you hear your music free from distractions for up to 40 hours on a fully charged AAA battery, whether in a plane or in a noisy office. They will also operate in passive mode without batteries.

Designed to work with smartphones, tablets, laptops or in-flight entertainment systems, the headphones use 40mm neodymium drivers to deliver a natural sound with intense bass, detailed midrange, extended treble, and accurate imaging in an immersive sound field.

The easy-to-press, illuminated logo button on the earcup lets you manage your music and phone calls without having to reach for your smartphone. The high-sensitivity mic is built into the earcup rather than on the cable, to ensure clear calls with a uniform volume level.

Designed for long-wearing comfort, the ATH-ANC70 features swiveling earcups with cushioned padding which fit easily over any ear, and an adjustable headband with memory foam. If you're simply looking for a silent reprieve without listening to music, the detachable cable lets you enjoy the convenience of wire-free operation.

For safe transport the headphones can be folded in the included carrying case which also contains an airline adapter and a 1/4'" adapter.

    Audio-Technica Consumer ATH-ANC70 reviews

    ATH-ANC70 QuietPoint Active Noise-Cancelling Closed-Back Headphones is rated 2.7 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Audio quality declines after 5 months of normal use. When I initially bought these headphones I was impressed. Good sturdy design, good audio quality for the price and I like the carry case it came with. After 5 months of normal use my opinion of these headphones has changed significantly. The audio quality has depreciated, the bass still ok but there's a lot of higher frequency cut off (hi-hats don't sound very clean or real any more) and overall the separation of sounds has decreased. I still use them for their noise cancellation but even then I sometimes get weird noises coming through, created by external sounds. Maybe I should have forked out a bit more and got some nice Bose headphones.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Love the features, hate that the hinge broke so easily! I loved my ANC-70s. Truly. I would turn them on, place them on my ears and then finally have some peace. (Until the battery starts to wear out and you get ear-splitting screeches and popping, but even that I could live with.) Then the hinge broke after less than five months. The headphones are designed to twist and fold flat into their case and one day the twisting hinge simply cracked inside and now they're useless. With the cracked hinge, the headphones no longer fit properly or close over your ears (one pushes back and out) and the noise cancelling is destroyed. :( Searching for a replacement. Will never buy a set again with so many points of failure.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fall Apart Easily My headphones ended up falling apart after about 2 years of what I would call light usage. I used them for a couple of hours three to four times a week. I took good care of my headphones, and I never dropped them. Today, I unfolded my headphones out of their case, but a plastic piece on one side of the headphones snapped off causing them to fall apart. Looking closely at the other side of the headphones, I noticed the same plastic piece is on the verge of snapping off. Other than them breaking so easily, they are good headphones. It's a shame they don't last very long. I would advise not to get these headphones. If they break so easily, then what is the point of buying it? Go get something else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another great product I actually won these from an airline. Great audio quality, looks very good, noise-canceling feature is excellent. The only thing that would have made it better for me is if it were wireless.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Worked great until they shocked me Got the headphones in late November, and they worked great at first. The carrying case included isn't a hard shell, but decently solid. The noise cancelling (NC) feature was pretty impressive, although the silver button on the side did seem a little shaky and cheap plastic feeling. HOWEVER, it is mid January and after having the NC on for about 20 minutes the headphones shocked my ear inside the headphone. The NC hasn't turned on since. B&H was accommodating and refunded my purchase. I will be purchasing another pair of NC headphones, but they will not be these. I was excited to add to my collection of AudioTechnica devices, but was really disappointed. ORIGINAL FUNCTIONALITY: 4/5 FUNCTIONALITY AFTER ISSUE: 2/5 (while the NC didn't work at all, the passive features still worked) B&H CUSTOMER SERVICE: 5/5

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not tough enough for a New Yorker I originally bought these headphones at an airport. I had a sound induced headache and was going on a transcontinental flight. It was christmas time so I said to myself "Hey, maybe I should treat myself to a great pair of headphones." I personally love the design and appearance of the headphones, BUT the plastic that was used at the pivot points is very flimsy. After about one month of use, it broke the left ear cup now dangles and refuses to sit right around my ears. The noise cancelling feature is therefore useless. I honestly expected them to last at least 5-6 months before this happened. This is the same problem I had with Turtle Beach Headphones as well. Being the young foolish kid that I am, I threw out the receipt so I can't even get them fixed under the warranty. Perhaps using a ball joint to control pivots would make it easier to adjust when placing them over the ears and prevent breaks like that.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great if designed by an engineer, but sadly not so So, as cheap active noise cancelling headphones; they are good sound quality, decent noise cancelling for the sound, but not long after purchase (around 2 months) the band of the headphones cracked on one of the sides and when it did so, the adjustment band popped out of the side and the piece that clicked into the notches as it adjusted flew out and was lost. I managed to glue it back together so they were usable. shortly after this, i noticed a small suction-like noise when using the noise cancelling on the left ear, but as music easily covered it up, i didn't worry too much, thought it might just go away. Now it has gotten to the point where it is constantly popping and hissing only in the left ear (with ANC on ofc.) and, very ironically, resembles the engine sound of a jet. Overall, if they had stayed working as they had and hadn't broken, but the flimsy construction means that they are more than likely to break as mine did soon after getting them

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Earcuff material separates from base, exposing foam material The black earcuff material separates at the exterior base of attachment. Underlying earcuff baseplate is sharp and cuts through the earcuff material, exposing the underlying foam material. Impossible to repair and no replacement cuffs are available.
