Middle Atlantic LT-CABUTL-SINGLE Reviews
Does The Job, But Needs a Rev. B
These work for instrument rack lighting and have flexible enough mounting options to adapt to different positions, but they have some quality issues and could use a couple of tweaks. The on-off switch on the last one of these I ordered did not function. Fortunately it was stuck in always-on, so after digging out a toggle switch, a metal plate and doing some soldering I was able to kluge a workable substitute. With labor and materials costs, the value-added likely exceeded the price of the unit by double, but I needed a system up and running and didn't have time to sit around waiting for another to get delivered. Frankly I expect better quality from Middle Atlantic, but it is what it is. Secondly, the construction is toy-caliber delicate, so while the ability to mount this thing in different positions with ease is appreciated, the old maxim Never send plastic to do the job of metal applies fully here. The unit could stand some beefing-up, or maybe just a secondary Heavy-Duty model. Given the flimsy construction, it's hard to believe these are manufactured for serious industry usage. So printing up a label for users that reads something like Caution: Light Bar Is Delicate is key. Lastly, these throw off an incredibly harsh first-generation-LED blue light - 6000+ on the Kelvin chart - so some catch-up with the rest of the LED industry should happen soon. 3000-4500 max would be more like it. So given the price and the scarcity of alternatives these are acceptable, but could be improved upon.
