D&K Ragmount Reviews

Ordered in error but usable

I have been using D&K Colormount tissue, which is a close match to the Colorseal product I had always relied on. I now work exclusively in 8x10 b&w, and mount finished prints on 11x14 archival boards. I somehow clicked on this oversize product for my last order, and figured I would have to use it as I had neither the time nor was it worth the effort to return. I don't have any issues with this D&K tissue, though I did find out that it took four times as long for it to bond. With the Colormount product I used 25 seconds in the press, with the dial set on its mid-point, which claims to be 225 degrees F. At that setting and time the print did not bond at the corners. I also noted that it took longer to tack the print in place with my tacking iron...as much as ten seconds opposed to the five I normally used. These are not concerns for me as a few extra minutes doesn't bother me. My only concern is that the prints do not de-bond over time. The four I just did are for a gift to someone in Italy and I am leaving them sit for a few days just to be sure, before I ship them.

D&K Ragmount Heat-Activated Tissue Adhesive (8.5 x 11", 25 Sheets) activates at temperatures between 160 F and 190 F. You would need to determine the time by experimentation.
