If this hot swap adapter is between the brain and a V-Lock IO Expander, will it give you the battery life on camera, or does it not pass that information through the hot swap unit?

1. Has anyone ordered this yet and what are your thoughts? 2. Do the internal batteries charge via the in-line connection or must they be removed/replaced?
I bought this as part of the DSMC2 base kit about a month ago and have still not been able to get it working. I've tried 4 different types of batteries, including the ones mentioned below by Dennis and none have worked. In addition to this frustration, my Movcam customer support experience has been literally non existent. I reached out to them via twitter, instagram, facebook, and email and have received no response on any platform and am now lost as to how to get this product working.

How do you connect to the SDI out ports?

Edit: That was a bit inaccurate. You can either use this Hot Swap Adapter with Movcam's DSMC2 bundle/kit accessories (Top Plate, Hot Swap Adapter and their V-Mount battery plate for DSMC2 to get SDI output) or you can use it with RED's Base Expander between the DSMC2 Brain and the Hot Swap Adapter and mounting Movcams V-Mount Plate mentioned above (no HD-SDI output with this setup!).
RED's battery modules might work as well, but I'm not sure about that.
IMPORTANT: If you really want to use the HD-SDI output from Movcam's Top Plate, you will have to mount the Hot Swap Adapter directly to the DSMC2 Brain due to the position of the SDI ports. According to 2 images I found about their DSMC2 Kit, you have 2 or 3 options to power the Top Plate with different module configurations, but you won't have SDI output, except you mount the Hot Swap Adapter as mentioned above.
