    Wolverine Data Reels2Digital reviews

8mm and Super 8 Movie Reels2Digital MovieMaker is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 179.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from This machine works very well! I use the product to digitize my family's home movies, going back to 1953. Both Regular and Super 8 are handled very well. I have to watch it when a splice goes through, however. If the film is too thick due to a tape splice, it might get stuck and it won't move. The machine digitizes at a rate of 2 frames per second, so don't be in a hurry. The result is very good. The .mp4 file runs at 30 fps, so it must be slowed down using software. It is essential to clean the film gate after every 50 feet as static builds up in the plastic mechanism and the dust migrates to it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What an absolutely wonderful device! I have been using the MovieMaker daily since purchasing it the end of November and have had no problems at all. It has allowed me to digitize films that have been buried in a box for half a century or longer. I am 70 years old and have been able to see my parents when they were in their early thirties after digitizing films from 1941. What a treat! The unit does exactly what it says, and if treated properly, I imagine will last well past the last reel that you need to digitize. You might think that the unit is a bit pricy, but not if you hold it up to the wonderful memories that it brings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great machine I received the Wolverine digital movie maker and was actually surprised as how simple it was to work. Just load the film push a couple of buttons and sit back and watch. I am very pleased with the results I have gotten with some of my 8mm films that are over 50 years old. When I ordered from B&H the gentleman was nice and answered my questions before placing the order. I called Wolverine support and had no problem getting my questions answered. Highly recommend this product just wish that I had a lot more film to digitize. Fun to use. Going to check with friends to see if I can help them also. Thanks

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Finally...a solution for 8mm and Super8 film! Four star rating because I've only had the thing two weeks. So its long haul capability is still unknown. I had to order some black 5 reel cans to get 7 reels cut down to size as they won't fit. It does kick out a 30 fps movie file which will need slowed down. You will need some type of video production software to do this as the movies will seem fast. Still, this in now way is a problem for me as the ability to transfer film right in my studio far and exceeds this minor setback. But for this price range, this thing is a homerun!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I wanted I was looking for a simple, inexpensive (relatively) way to transfer my old home movies to either DVDs or other media for use on my computer or TV/DVD player. This is just what I wanted. The majority of my movies are 50' reel super 8 mm and have been no problem transferring - I just followed the instructions in the manual and video without a hitch. My unit has a framing feature which allows shifting of the of the image to eliminate overlapping frames - very handy. Did I expect theater or HD quality images - of course not - this unit has reproduced my movies to a quality equal to the source - 30 to 40 year old HOME movies. I've been using WIndows MovieMaker to edit them and adjust the speed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Don't wait 2 months Buy it If you have tried to capture your movie off the wall with a Hd camera you can use this machine it's.easy to operate . If you are like me, mine were on 7 in reels..I found 5 in for 3.00 each. Hang the 7 in on your old projector and put a new 5 in on the machine. Stop when the 5 in is about full cut film. finish the reel.. 2 5in equals one 7 in.. I also found that if I stayed with the machine I could stop it and change the darkness as often as I I liked. I used the free movie maker software from Microsoft to put a reworked movie on my computer You can change the speed of any part to whatever you like. .Keep in mind if the movie is very poor it will stay poor. .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great unit for the price! I'm using this to convert 8mm and Super 8mm home movies to a digital format. It's easy to use and does an excellent job! But remember GIGO: Garbage In, Garbage Out. If your movies have scratches, dirt, bad lighting or jitters in the original film, those will be faithfully reproduced in the digital copy. This unit DOES have some exposure control. Anything beyond that will need to be dealt with in video editing software. The only challenge I had was figuring out how to mount the reels to the unit. I forgot that the 8mm reels and spindles have a flat tab that needs to line up in order for the reels to easily slide onto the spindles. You do NOT need to force them! No mention of that in the instructions, which are minimal but adequate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tool! We were looking for a way to convert old 8mm and super 8 film to digital format. My father-in-law had a number of old films and had no way of viewing them. I found this tool online and decided to try it. It works fantastic! The long and short of it is that it takes the films and looks at each frame, it then puts each frame together in mp4 format. It is fantastic and does exactly what I needed. We now have the old films in mp4 format that we can upload to youtube for the entire family to view. It is seamless and easy to use. It will take time to get the films converted because it looks at it frame by frame.
