VIDEO 2 PC MKII Digital Video Converter is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Device works well, software not great. Device works well, but the software is bad. The first time I installed it, I did one tape successfully and then at the end of the second, the software errored and said that the file could not be named. After about 4 tries of unsuccessfully logging the 60 minutes tape, I uninstalled the software and reinstalled it and so far it seems to be working. But it is finicky. I would have expected the software to be more updated since this is a newer device. The software is a couple versions behind what they are selling now. This comes with a version 9, and I think they sell a version 13 now. So, don't buy this relying on the software.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's OK, but here's a suggestion... As other reviews online have mentioned the software is not so great and I did experience drops and crashes repeatedly - I then turned OFF all background programs such as auto-backup drive/software and shut down all other programs and It hasn't dropped out again since. Getting my much needed VHS to dig done now - also it does not upscale whether 1080 or 720 was selected the results was the same so don't expect it to make your 8m or vhs to look like 1080 HD. Overall works just fine with these things in mind. If there was something better in the $100 range I would have spent more but honestly there doesn't seem to be much out there for this task in a reasonable price range so this does the trick.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Revives & digitize your old/analog videos! Seamless install and setup; works as advertised to create editable MPEGs from your old VHS tapes, or in my case, Hi8 and DVC camera original tapes. A couple of caveats - The software did not want to see my camera as a camera - instead it wanted use the source as if coming from a television loop out. (?) but once I observed that - no problems. Controls are obvious and generally well laid out. Preview area is large showing you what is coming across from the video feed whether you are recording or not... Some nice features, its software shows: A) real time space consumed by current recording as it comes across + space left where its going B) elapsed time of current recording C) you can set maximum time to allow recording, allowing you to set up your recording session, then walk away, knowing when the time allotted runs out - it stops recording (and won't fill up your hard drive with video snow... ;-) One downside - every time you use it - after closing - it reverts to its default file saving location instead of the location last used (my preference) but that is minor. If at all possible, use an SVHS cable instead of the RCA jacks - the quality is significantly better (you will still need the red & white RCA jacks for the audio, however) Unit itself is quite small with good build, fit & finish for where it is supposed to sit on your desk and what it is supposed to do. Nice little unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great! Only issue was that software with the converter didn't include the software drivers for VHS conversion! Why? Go directly to the ION website to download drivers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great piece of Kit So I purchased this last year in an effort to digitize my family home movies and my own video content from my high school years. Initially I wanted it to create a highlight reel for my grandmother's memorial service and when I combined the video stuff from their 50th (family holidays etc) with their 1960's 8mm footage the reaction was palpable. That's where the value of these things comes into play. It's super easy to install and setup and it opens so many doors in how you share these old movies (most likely left forgotten about in a closet). With social media and video being all the rage these days there's no better time than now to pick these up. The cost pales in comparison to the nostalgic value you will get. I did a video how to setup and capture analog formats here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYMszuMyGG4&t=138s Really happy with it ultimately. Now if only there was an affordable and reliable way to transfer 8mm FILM to video.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use, great quality! I bought this to transfer some VHS tapes to mi macbook, it worked perfectly, the software gives you different quality options (i used the highest) and the results where excellent in regards to what a VHS tape could give you in quality, maybe with a different format you could see the transfer quality even more? Overall its a great option that i can recommend for anyone looking for a converter in this price range.
