ASUS RX 480 Overview

  • 1Description

Based on AMD's Polaris architecture and AMD LiquidVR ready, the ASUS Republic of Gamers Strix OC Radeon RX 480 Graphics Card allows you to have the full virtual reality experience.

Not only for gaming, the Radeon RX 480 supports APIs such as OpenCL and OpenGL. These APIs can take advantage of the GPU's 2304 Stream Processors to accelerate parallel computing tasks, taking some of the processing load off of the CPU.

The front panel of the card features a variety of outputs. There are two DisplayPort 1.3 outputs, two HDMI 2.0b outputs, and one dual-link DVI-D output. Combined with AMD's Eyefinity, the GPU can provide an immersive gaming experience using multiple monitors.

For cooling, ASUS implemented their DirectCU III Cooler. It features Triple Wing-Blade fan design direct-GPU contact heat-pipes, which transports heat away from the GPU. 0 dB technology allows for the card to be completely silent when the GPU remains at a set temperature. This type of cooler is most useful in medium to large towers where airflow inside the case is not a concern. This GPU also has Aura RGB lighting with Modular Shroud so you can personalize your gaming style.

AMD LiquidVR Ready
Experience the immersive world of VR gaming and entertainment. With Polaris architecture and AMD LiquidVR technology, this GPU is compatible with the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive.
HDR Ready
This card is compatible with HDR (High Dynamic Range) content. When paired with an HDR capable display, you'll be able to experience enhanced contrast and colors for a sharp, vibrant visual experience.
FreeSync Technology
Reduce screen tearing with AMD's FreeSync Technology. FreeSync enables the monitor to dynamically adjust its refresh rate to the frame rate being output by the graphics card, thereby greatly reducing screen tearing, stuttering, and other artifacts.
With support for up to 4 monitors, AMD Eyefinity allows you to customize how your displays are shown on your desktop. Having multiple displays can not only make you more productivity, but can also provide an immersive gaming experience. If you're looking to stream online via Twitch, having a separate display for the twitch chat as well as the capture window for both your gameplay and webcam can facilitate the process.
Is one graphics card not enough? AMD's CrossFire works with compatible motherboards and allows you to install and combine up to two of the same GPUs to split the processing load and render graphics with improved frame rates and image quality for supported applications.

    ASUS RX 480 Reviews

Republic of Gamers Strix OC Radeon RX 480 Graphics Card is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cool and quiet This video card runs cool at stock settings. The temperature of the gpu peaks at around 60c with some fan noise. Adjusted the temperature target in amd wattman from 65c to 75c, and the card runs completely silent with the gpu peaking at under 70c without any throttling. This is a pretty long video card, so make sure your system has room for it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Flawlessly !! Owned since 2nd week FEB.,has worked without ANY incidents,on all ports.Fans don't run until it gets warm under 3D load.Glad i got the STRIX 3 fan version, runs cooler than my XFX 6870 BLK ED. Gonna transfuse this into my New CH6 HERO,can't wait to see the results!! Is my 1rst ASUS & SRTIX Vid Card,NOT DISAPPOINTED!! I don't understand why this isn't available anymore,it's been a GREAT card. Only thing you have to be aware of,is it's wider & longer than older cards.
