FLIR Scout III-320 Reviews

Great product

I was very skeptical about buying a thermal monocular after reading many different reviews of many different products. I'm so very happy I chose the Fleer Scout 3 320. I live on 20 acres and I am able to see deer rabbits squirrels raccoons and many other animals in the dead of night all over my property from my porch. Great product,I highly recommend it.

Expensive, but good

I got this with the goal of helping me spot wildlife for photographic opportunities (so I've mostly used it during the day and evening), and it works great. Frame rate is smooth, and resolution is OK (could be more detailed, but the sensor is 320x240 after all). It feels about twice as heavy as the Scout TK, and it's a bit larger, but it'll fit in a cargo pocket. Downsides? It'd be nice if it could capture photos/videos. Also, there's a handful of color palettes, but they are all black/white (the InstAlert highlights things in red). Sadly, the predator color palette is missing. That's about it. I tried several units (Seek Reveal, Scout TK), but I decided this one was a keeper. It's expensive, but works, and being able to see in total darkness is really cool.

Terrible Image Quality

I must say that in 30+ years of buying optics this is the absolute worst device I have ever purchased. I spent extra money on resolution thinking that it would be worthwhile. No. The quality of the images is dismal, and despite different settings its a nearly worthless tool. If you are considering a thermal monocular try to demo several makes and models first so you down throw your money down the drain like I did on this.

question

I am in Argentina. There are no Flir representatives here. I can only change the battery when it runs out? I have experience in electronics. Thank you.

I suggest that you email direct to FLIR Tactical product support Technical Support, so that you receive in writing from FLIR what they would be able to do your you when the battery eventually wears out. Perhaps they will let you self-install it.
