The bx_digital V3 Mid/Side EQ from Brainworx represents a complete overhaul of the bx_digital EQ, the company's flagship product. It includes all the features and character that made the bx_digital V2 a modern classic for many engineers, while introducing a plethora of powerful new tools designed to improve your workflow. You can widen or focus mixes or add presence and transparency to your sound, whether using this plug-in to master music, or as a conventional stereo EQ on sub-groups, or in M/S recording mode for creating exceptionally mono-compatible stereo signals.

The 11-band equalizer offers parametric bell, high- and low-shelving, and high- and low-pass filters for each channel. The upper range of the high-frequency band is now extended to 40 kHz to add "air" to high-resolution audio tracks, while the Bass Shift and Presence Shift modules were upgraded to give you a total of three different tones. The popular Mono Maker option still lets you fold a mix down to mono below a frequency of your choice, to ensure that the bass-section is tight and compatible for vinyl-pressings.

New features include six notch filters to help you manage problematic frequencies or unwanted room noise, API-style Proportional Q filters that let you target frequencies with more precision, Dynamic EQs that let you de-ess but also boost frequencies according to incoming signal, and a Gain Scale knob that functions as a global more/less setting for all the EQ parameters.

The bx_digital V3 offers accurate frequency-response representation via two graphs at the bottom of the interface, while balance and correlation meters show critical information concerning the final stereo image after processing has been done. Flexible control linking allows you to independently link each band and filter with its respective counterpart in the opposing channel.

Three operational modes – L/R (dual-mono), M/S Master (Mid/Side), and M/S Recording (processes Mid/Side signals in real-time and outputs L/R stereo)
Mono, dual-mono, stereo and Mid/Side configurations, multi-mono (Surround)
Upper range of high-frequency band extended to 40 kHz to add "air" to high-resolution audio tracks
Separate, continuously variable low-pass and high-pass filter for each channel now offer 6 dB or 12 dB/octave slopes for more dramatic curves
Addition of up to six notch filters that can be used in stereo
Bass Shift and Presence Shift modules upgraded to each offer three tilt filters, to balance and unmask hidden details in your mixes
Dynamic EQ module boosts or cuts according to incoming program, correcting undesirable, momentary peaks or enhancing your signal with creative tone shaping – lets you de-ess but also boost signal
API-style Proportional Q filters let you target frequencies with more precision
Global Gain Scale control adjusts all gain controls for parametric, shelving, and Bass & Presence Shift filters at once – negative values invert the EQ curve to change boosts to cuts and vice versa
Mono Maker feature folds frequencies to mono below its selected corner frequency (20 Hz to 22 kHz), lending focus to any part of your mix and helping to preserve the side channel's headroom when tightening the low-end
Flexible control linking – each band and filter can be independently linked with its respective counterpart in the opposing channel (left-channel filter linked to its corresponding right-channel filter, or mid linked to side)
Meter pre- and post-EQ signal levels, L/R balance and correlation
Advanced imaging controls let you independently pan your mix's mid and side channels, widen the stereo image, swap left and right channels and center the phantom stereo image
Eleven broadly-overlapping bands per channel
LF, LMF, MF, HMF and HF bands are fully parametric (offering separate Gain, Q and Frequency controls in each band), and can be switched globally for Proportional Q response
LMF, MF and HMF bands each provide notch filtering at their lowest gain setting, while offering adjustable Q for each band
LF and HF bands provide respective low- and high-shelving EQ at their lowest Q setting
