The bx-opto plug-in from Brainworx combines the qualities and anomalies of several classic optical compressors, to bring the unique characteristics, colors, and features of light-dependent circuitry to your DAW. Far from being transparent, this plug-in lets you gently level or completely raze your sound, with harmonically pleasant results.
Optical compressors are appreciated for their musical, program-dependent character produced by the light-dependent circuitry of their sidechain. The bx_opto not only delivers that musical quality, but opens up new sonic possibilities with its variable Speed knob, simulating changes in speed at which the photo cell in an optical compressor reacts to light. This gives you control over release times that shape transients, in a manner that is unmatched by hardware optical compressors.
This plug-in also features a sweepable (20 Hz-20 kHz) sidechain filter, a wet/dry mix control for parallel processing, and a meter for accurate reading of the amount of gain reduction.
Emulates analog optical-compression colors and characteristics but with greater control over release times that shape transients, in a manner unmatched by hardware optical compressors
Not a transparent compressor – gently level or completely raze your sound with harmonically pleasant results
Program-dependent peak reduction / compression with one knob
Speed knob controls the coefficient of Light Dependent Resistor (LDR), creating unique transient responses
Accurate metering for reading amount of gain reduction
