Will this W-E1 Wifi card work by itself to ...

Will this W-E1 Wifi card work by itself to transfer the images to my phone or laptop?? Or is a CF card in conjunction with this wifi card mandatory for anything to work?? I know this wifi card has no SD storage, but if I put it in the camera with no other cards, will it still let me send the pics to my phone/laptop? Is a CF card mandatory also for it to work wirelessly or is a CF card just optional if I also want to save it to a physical memory card??
Asked by: R
CF card is a must , and this is only compatible with Canon 5DS/ 5DSR and Canon 7D II

Asked by: Eric
Canon W-E1 Wi-Fi Adapter will work with the Canon Connect Station CS100 1TB Storage Device, or a computer running the EOS Utility Software or a mobile device running Canon Connect Mobile App. Unfortunately it is not compatible with third party wireless external drives.

question

When will they be in stock?
Asked by: Jordan H.
Unfortunately, at this time, we do not have an estimated arrival date for the Canon W-E1 Wi-Fi Adapter. Once we have more information on the unit's arrival, we will update the Ship Time section on the Wi-Fi adapter's webpage, and update the item's inventory status. Until then, I would recommend clicking the white Request Stock Alert button on our website under the Pre-Order button and enter your e-mail address and we will e-mail you when the card is in stock. Otherwise, you may simply periodically check our website for an update in the item's inventory status.

question

whats the transfer rate? didn't want to slow down shooting with 70mb raw files of the 5dsr
Asked by: lians
I haven't measured the speed, but the previews/files aren't instant by any means. It takes about 2 seconds on the mobile app for a full size (JPEG, I think) preview, and about 5 seconds for the RAW file to download to EOS Utility on a PC with 5DSR files. You can shoot as fast as you like, however, it's just the preview/downloads that take time.

can it be used with DigiGear Slim SD/Wi-Fi SD, so i can add this to older Canon EOS to make transfers of pictures only?
Asked by: Dovid
It is our understanding that the Canon W-E1 does not work with this reader. There is very little information as to what Wi-Fi cards do work. We have one report that these work. https://www.toshiba-memory.com/products/flashair-w-03/

question

Do I need the cs100 in addition to the Wi-Fi card to transfer images straight to my computer?
Asked by: Greg
While the CS100 is a fine solution for transferring your images off the camera, it is not a requirement to use the W-E1. With the Canon W-E1 Wi-Fi Adapter, you can transfer your images to another camera, a smart device, a computer, the internet (through the computer using Canon EOS Utilities) and a printer.
