The 3DPro14 Bullet360 from 360RIZE allows you to capture 2D and 3D 360° spherical VR video using 14 or 12 cameras. It also features the Bullet360 syncing function, which allows you to simultaneously trigger start/stop recording and power on/off for all 12 cameras using an included wired remote control. Additionally, an audio clicker is also included for achieving sound sync.
With recording set to 120 fps, the 3DPro14 achieves sync within +/- 5 frames, allowing for a close frame sync in the stitching process, and minimizing the challenge of achieving such sync. The 3DPro12 supports the GoPro HERO4 Black and Silver and HERO3+ Black and Silver cameras, and these can be mixed and matched — with sync — as long as the recording resolutions and frame rates are set to be the same.
The cameras install in a spherical orientation and come together to capture high-resolution 360° video. You can choose to install either 14 cameras or 12. 10 cameras install on the horizon, either one or two on top, and one or two on the bottom. With 14 cameras, you capture 3D video on the top, bottom, and around the horizon. With 12 cameras, you get 2D on top and bottom and 3D on the horizon. To switch from a 14- to a 12-camera setup, you simply need to remove one camera holder from the top and center the remaining one, and likewise remove one from the bottom and center the remaining one.
In stitching you can create up to an 8000 x 4000 resolution image. The close proximity of each camera in the configuration provides a high level of frame overlap for each camera's field of view, so you can capture subjects from relatively close distances without creating distortion and parallax issues during the stitching process.
Thanks to hinged camera arms, camera installation and removal are simple and quick, and cameras connect plug-and-play. The rig requires no power cables and instead uses a minimal amount of power from each camera battery. However, it also leaves full access to the cameras' HDMI and USB ports in case you want to connect an external power source and go beyond the available battery capacity. Access to these ports also allows you to use the cameras for live streaming.
The rig has three 3/8"-16 threaded mounting holes at three different angles, so you can choose where you want more cameras concentrated and, accordingly, where in the frame you want more resolution/detail. It also comes with a 3/8"-16 to 1/4"-20 adapter, so you can attach the rig to monopods, tripods, and most other support gear. It has a robust design, featuring an anodized aluminum core and high-strength polycarbonate camera holders. With cameras inserted, it weighs approximately 2.5 lb.
