HP X9U42UT reviews

Elite x3 X9U42UT 64GB Smartphone (Unlocked, Black) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice looking BUT... not great! Purchased early today and spent ALL day working on it to TRY and get it to come close to matching my 950XL in performance. The write up says it is a 16 meg camera however, it will ONLY set to a 10 meg image. the camera is HORRIBLE and was sluggish. restarted MANY times and tried several things. after 9 hours, I have boxed it up and I will be taking it back and going back to my 950XL! Really loved the size of the screen, the feel of it in my hand and was in love with the fingerprint scanner on the back. definitely more of a "work" phone for someone who is not looking to use the camera very much at all!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quick update to this GREAT phone re: prior review I was trying to edit my first review but seems you can't. So very quickly just wanted to add the new firmware and Windows 10 mobile anniversary were finally released for the HP Elite X3. The difference is amazing...I am finding this phone now as, or more stable than my Galaxy Edge 7. It is a VERY fast phone now..camera does not crash..live tiles give even more info than before...the fingerprint scanner works great and FAST..The Iris scanner works very well too if you choose to use it. This is now THE best phone I have ever owned, PERIOD. The camera I'd say is a bit above average...so that's not best in class, but it's good too. But no...Samsung or Iphone will have a better camera but this one is a bit above ok but above.. Battery life is INCREDIBLE. The updates make this phone a real winner!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just a very handsome phone... The phone is easy to use, looks great and has a super awesome battery life. I get asked a lot at restaurants "what phone is that?". The Windows update eliminated all the bugs I encountered. It's very fast, doesn't drain the battery and I use it a lot - I'm constantly at 70% remaining life after 8 to 10 hours of heavy use. The windows tiles are awesome and I'm not bothered that there are only a few apps compatible with the Windows Phone because most of my apps are internet-based and I can pin the web-app page to my start menu. Microsoft Edge is also very fast and I'm very pleased with overall product. The speakers are very good, but wish I could turn up a notch or two! Very much worth the price and time to get this phone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great Phone that will gt even better, - HOPEFULLY I will admit for some odd reason I have always liked Windows phone more than IOS more than Android. That said, I'm NOT a WP fan-person etc. I had the Iphone 6plus and currently still own the Galaxy 7 edge. Still and all I missed Windows phone. I did have a 950xl for a while and did/do see how in my opinion seems MS has messed things up a bit with Windows 10 mobile. Seems to me it can be great, but it's often a bit buggy YET somehow wonderful in many respects..I'm talking about WP, not the Elite X3 yet. Ok so to jump ahead to this HP Elite X3 here goes... Well upon un-boxing it I was really surprised just how much I liked the look and feel of the phone. It exudes quality in workmanship in my opinion. Solid as a rock..DON'T always need something covered in aluminum to feel you have something of quality in your hands!! I love the fact seems to me you sure won't see a ton of these while waiting for a train or at work, haha well unless the Enterprise work thing actually pans out. I am just a regular consumer, but use my phone ALL day for work...texting, e-mailing, scanning, you name it, and this phone is GREAT! Something I barely ever see now in any smartphone review IS call quality. As in can you hear the darn callers ok??..can you transmit clearly so others are not saying what / what!! Besides the X3 having excellent signal strength vs other phones I have had, this phone has THE best VOICE quality thru the earpiece I have ever heard on any phone EVER! I'm with T Mobile btw if that may matter to you. I still mostly use a phone as a PHONE. As to a smartphone..well as an early adopter I already knew this phone would not have the very latest firmware. It will need to be much more fluid to make this a true contender up against an iphone 7..the exploding note etc.. IT has not gotten the Windows anniversary update yet. SO in it's current form the phone can be a little, a LOT buggy at times. It does not feel as polished as iphone or my Galaxy Edge 7, BUT everything works and when it does, JUST seems better to ME than an iphone or an Android whatever. Unfortunately from what I've read this phone needs a few updates to take advantage of the 820 processor etc but still and all everything is rather fast on this phone. The screen looks REALLY nice..very sharp with nice color BUT it's not the best in direct sunlight.only 3 stars for THAT, maybe an update will help that. The camera is actually way above average..I'd say a tad below a Galaxy 7 camera and not quite as good as my 950 xl's camera but ACTUALLY very VERY good. Problem is currently the camera app may have the biggest bug without the updated OS and new firmware coming son THEY SAY. If you take a picture and try to look at the result too quickly the phone can actually crash and re boot. In a way that's NUTS on a phone this expensive. But again I can see the potential of the camera ONCE the later firmware etc gets updated. All in all this phone seems to have some sort of weird CHARISMA. I know that's subjective but it's like I can't put it down. And no I'm not a kid! Battery life is THE best I ever had on ANY phone...and just something about this phone speaks to high quality overall. Sound is OK thru the speakers, I suppose an HTC 10 would knock the socks off this phone but its GOOD and above average for a smartphone overall. The biggest thing holding this phone back currently is WP 10 Mobile - BUG monster!!. I have to think HP is not not stupid and will get this thing to run like silk soon. Once it gets a tad less buggy (Operating system) This will be a hard phone to beat especially if you enjoy a larger screen. As to the dock, continuum, to me that's just icing on the cake. I really am just suing this HP Elite X3 as my daily driver (LOL I hate that term) But in that capacity I am enjoying the heck out of this WELL made phone....! I give the phone 5 stars!, but MS needs to get their act together or this phone will not reach it's full potential which is GREAT!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great phone This phone is a good bargain for the price. It comes with 64GB of internal storage. Samsung and iphone both have less storage capacity and cost more with their 32GB of storage. HP's specs for this phone shows 5.96 inch screen, but when I measure mine diagonally it measures 6 complete inches. The phone has a hefty, solid feel to it. I can use Continuum wirelessly to any TV with SmartScreen. So far I've tried it on LG Smart TVs two years old with no problems. HP markets this phone for business but there's nothing about this phone that's business exclusive. This is a full fledge Windows 10 Mobile phone with no restrictions to apps available from the store.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This phone has a very premium feel to it. I've had the Hp elite x3 for a couple weeks now and it has been a great experience overall. As far as the feel of the phone it is very nice to hold with that premium feel. The speed is really good and it moves well and no lag noticed. The camera performs well but struggles somewhat in low light situations. It is however very accurate with the colors it produces which is a big plus. I've owned several windows phones and this one has not disappointed me. I know with more firmware updates it will only get better, but please fix double tap to wake Hp. I've always loved that on other windows phones. The fingerprint reader is awesome and fast, it's nice to have several features to access. The screen is really nice and the colors pop. I also purchased the rugged case and its a very nice addition. Hp really did a great job and I look forward to see what the future holds with this 3 in 1 device.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best business experience I have had this device for a few weeks. I have had many many smart phones and hands Down this is the best smartphone for business it just works and works fast. There are slight things that need to be tuned in the windows os overall but I have no buyers remorse whatsoever. I look forward to see what msft and hp do with this. Excited for the future of the mobile worker experience. Thanks to continuum and this device we now have a glimpse into that future.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Powerhouse without any function... This phone is very slick and I love the Windows 10 OS, even with the poor app support. Unfortunately, I purchased this phone for my business, which involves making Bluetooth calls and texts in my car. This phone does not pair properly with Honda's Hands Free Link, rendering it unusable for much of my work. This is a glaring oversight by HP. The HP tech blamed the problem on Honda. The Honda and Hands Free Link techs blamed the problem on the phone. Regardless, I cannot use my phone for what I consider to be a basic function.
