Only used it once so far but after 5 hours of continuous use and 1900 pics later I still had 2 bars. Very happy about this.

Far outweigh the cost. It helps balance long lenses.

I had thought about getting the cheaper, non-Canon version but I am sure I made the right choice. All connections are perfect with the plug-in battery and it is very easy to use with the standard batteries. There are many times when I need to have the camera on a tripod without moving for a long period of time to preserve my Photoshop changes on the initial shot. This allows me to not stress over waiting for client changes or approval. A quality product from Canon. Go with the real deal.

Do NOT like the battery tray

For me a dual battery grip is a must have and for my previous 5D (a mark III) I bought the Vello BG-C9 because it was less expensive and I'll be honest; it worked GREAT. This time, I decided to go with the Canon version. It works fine so far, but I am NOT impressed with the battery tray. It's flimsy and feels like it would snap in two if torqued the wrong way. Given the cost of this grip, I really expected something a little more rugged feeling. Time will tell. I'm giving it four stars for now because it works great and I am a loyal Canon fan but may revise this in the future to give it the full 5 stars or reduce the rating based on how things go.

Works great

I love the bigger grip and when taking portrait photos. To me this and the 5D Mark iv is as good at the 1D'd and less expensive.

Does what it needs to do

Grip makes holding the camera super easy, and of course it's great to have double the battery life. The only thing to perhaps think twice about is fitting your assembled rig into a camera bag, especially if you have other gear - the added grip can make things a little awkward to fit. There are endless options for bags out there, so a solution more than likely can be found, it's just something to consider.

The dual batteries in my Canon BG-E20 Battery ...

The dual batteries in my Canon BG-E20 Battery Grip do not seem to discharge at the same rate. After a few hours of shooting, typcially one battery is still at 90% while the other is between 40 - 60%. Is this normal?

You can assign the camera to use one battery and then switch to the other when the one is almost drained , ore have them used simultaneously

how do you remove the battery cover on the camera ...

how do you remove the battery cover on the camera to be able to attached the BG-E20 Battery grip?
Asked by: Stephen
Open the battery door and remove the battery. On the hinge end you will see a small black sliding tab. Slide it to retract the pin and remove the door. There is a storage place on the Battery Grip to store the door so you don't lose it. Remember to install the door on the grip before you slide it into the camera. Turn the knurled disk on the battery grip to fasten it securely to the camera.
