This B&H Kit has paired a Drobo B1200i 12-Bay NAS Storage Array with twelve 4TB hard drives to provide you with an on-demand, enterprise-level storage pool of 48TB for SMB environments. The NAS-based drives are designed to operate 24x7 and have an enhanced energy efficiency, which reduces the cost of running an always-available storage solution. Installing the 3.5" hard drives into the Drobo B1200i can be done quickly by utilizing the drive bay's carrier- and tool-less features. Once configured, the Drobo B1200i integrates itself to your servers via three iSCSI Gigabit Ethernet ports and supports a wide-variety of operating systems. These features enable block-level data access performance while providing a local-storage experience for clients.

  • Drobo B1200i 12-Bay NAS Storage Array

The B1200i 12-Bay NAS Storage Array from Drobo features 12 drive bays capable of holding 3.5" hard disk drives and solid state drives making this a versatile hard drive enclosure. Aside from 12 drive bays, this Drobo storage array comes complete with three Gigabit Ethernet ports designated for iSCSI use and one Gigabit Ethernet port for system management. Managing and configuring your array has also been simplified through the use of Drobo's own BeyondRAID technology allowing you to replace drives without the need to power down or restart the array.

This Drobo Storage Array supports a variety of operating systems including Mac OS X Server, Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, VMware vSphere 4.1.x and Citrix XenServer 5.6 allowing you to integrate this array into virtually any system configuration. Along with versatile OS compatibility you benefit from enhanced file system compatibility with Windows NTFS and FAT32, Mac OS X HFS+, Linux ext3, VMware vSphere VMFS, and Citrix XenServer LVM.

Once configured, you can take advantage of Drobo Dashboard enabling you to monitor multiple Drobo devices via the intuitive dashboard showing each Drobo as if you were looking at it in person. See the status lights of each Drobo and utilize the integrated administrative options to control each unit individually.

    BeyondRAID Technology
The Drobo B1200i iSCSI array can hold up to 48TB of raw storage. To add capacity, insert a new hard drive or replace your smallest drive with a larger one, even when all drive bays are full. Unlike traditional RAID, the BeyondRAID technology in Drobo enables you to leverage different drive capacities, allowing for continuous expansion as larger drives become available. With Drobo, expansion is automatic and instantaneous and access to data is always maintained, while protecting you from two simultaneous drive failures.
    Automated Data-Aware Tiering
Automated Data-Aware Tiering allows businesses to consolidate storage resources and share that storage across all connected servers and their applications. Avoid manually tuning an array for applications that have different storage requirements. Automated Data-Aware Tiering leverages high-capacity hard disk drives (HDDs) paired with high-performance solid state drives (SSDs) to deliver application-optimized storage that requires no manual tuning.
    Smart Volumes & Thin Provisioning
Create new volumes up to 16TB in seconds and manage them over time with ease. Smart Volumes management technology with Thin Provisioning integrated into the Drobo B1200i allows volumes to pull storage from the common pool of disks rather than a specific physical disk allocation.
    Optimizing Business Applications
Drobo is ideal for building a server virtualization cluster, highly available email server, or scalable backup server. Drobo technology has been certified for VMware vSphere, Citrix XenServer, Symantec Backup Exec, and Veeam Backup environments.
    Designed for IT Environments
The B1200i comes equipped with serviceable modular components including a removable controller card; dual redundant, hot-swappable power supplies; and a hot-swappable cooling fan unit. You can source field replaceable units in advance in case of a single hardware component failure, to ensure increased uptimes delivering a higher level of availability.
    Drobo Dashboard
Manage multiple Drobo devices with the Drobo Dashboard displaying the status of all of your Drobos. See the status lights and capacity gauges as if you were looking at the front panel of each Drobo device. All administration tasks are a single click away and you also benefit from a built-in data protection tool called Drobo Copy to easily copy data to and from your Drobo.

  • 12 x WD 4TB Red 5400 rpm SATA III 3.5" Internal NAS HDD

Designed with home and small office/business customers in mind, the 4TB Red 5400 rpm SATA III 3.5" Internal NAS HDD from WD is well-suited for NAS environments with up to eight 3.5" drive bays. Engineered to handle increased workloads, this 4TB drive operates using a SATA III 6 Gb/s interface, a 64MB cache, and a rotational speed of 5400 rpm, all of which help to ensure uninterrupted data transfers with a sustained rate of up to 150 MB/s. This drive also features high levels of reliability, with 600,000 load/unload cycles, <10 in 1014 non-recoverable read errors per bits read, error recovery controls, and 1,000,000 hours MTBF for 1-8 bay NAS systems. Also built into this drive are noise and vibration protection and WD's NASware 3.0 helps increase system compatibility, allowing WD Red drives to be more easily integrated with your existing network infrastructure.

    General Features

Fill Your NAS with WD Red
Built for 1 to 8-bay NAS systems, WD Red lets users store their data in one unit
    NASware 3.0 Technology
Built into every WD Red hard drive, NASware 3.0's technology helps improves your system's storage performance by increasing compatibility, integration, upgradeability, and reliability
    Built for NAS Compatibility
Desktop drives aren't purpose-built for NAS, but WD Red drives with NASware are. WD's technology helps takes the guesswork out of selecting a drive. WD Red is for small NAS systems and WD's algorithm balances performance and reliability in NAS and RAID environments
    Desktop Drives vs. WD Red
Desktop hard drives are not designed for NAS environments. Do right by your NAS and choose a drive with an array of features to help preserve your data and maintain optimum performance. Take the following into consideration when choosing a hard drive for your NAS:
  • Compatibility: Without being tested for compatibility with your NAS system, improved performance is not guaranteed
  • Reliability: The always-on environment of a NAS or RAID is a hot one and desktop drives aren't typically tested in those conditions. WD Red is
  • Error Recovery Controls: WD Red NAS hard drives are specifically designed with RAID error recovery control to help reduce failures within the NAS system. Desktop drives are not typically designed for RAID environments where this can be an issue
  • Noise and Vibration Protection: Designed to operate solo, desktop drives offer little or no protection from the noise and vibration faced in a multi-drive system. WD Red drives are designed for multi-bay NAS systems
  • WD Red for Home
Stream, backup, share, and organize your digital content at home with a NAS and WD Red drives designed to share content to the devices in your home. Red NASware helps increase your drives' compatibility with your devices, TV, stereo, and more
    WD Red for Small Business
WD Red is a good hard drive choice for 1 to 8 bay systems. NASware 3.0 allows for integration with your existing network so WD Red can share and backup files at the speed of your business. For larger businesses with up to 16 bays, use WD Red Pro
    3D Active Balance Plus
This helps ensure your data is protected from excessive vibration and noise in a NAS or RAID environment. This dual-plane balance control helps reduce the degradation of your drive over time
    Reliability
Since your NAS system is always on, a reliable drive is essential. With an MTBF of up to 1 million hours, the WD Red drive with NASware 3.0 is designed for 24x7 environments
    Cooler Operations
By reducing power consumption, the operating temperature of your NAS stays cooler. With a lower temperature in your system, you can create a more reliable solution for your NAS
