The CineRAID CR-H218 2-Bay USB 3.1 Type-C Raid Enclosure converts your internal 2.5" drives as an external USB storage solution so you can quickly provide additional storage space for your Windows and Mac systems. The enclosure comes with two drive bays that can accommodate your 2.5" SATA-based SSDs and hard drives, which have a maximum height of 12.5mm. For safeguarding data or enhancing transfer rates, it is outfitted with a hardware RAID controller, letting you configure the drives in a RAID 0 or 1 array by using the onboard dip switches. Moreover, JBOD and Normal modes are available to create one large volume or two volumes.

CineRAID has armed the CR-H218 enclosure with a USB Type-C interface, which features a reversible design, so you can always connect the included USB Type-C to Type-A cable the first try. This connection is equipped with USB 3.1 technology that transfers data at a rate of up to 10 Gb/s. In addition to transferring data, the enclosure is powered via a USB bus-powered port on your computer.

    Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cool, compact little box This is a neat little box, but because I tried to use it with 2 SSDs on a Mac Pro (without USB 3.1 Gen 2 port), I was only able to achieve speeds of 300-400MBps. Called customer service (who seemed very nice and helpful) and was told that this was because the two hard drives have to share the bus. I'm told that using it on a new MacBook Pro or other computer with USB 3.1 Gen 2 port (Thunderbolt 3) would yield speeds of 600-700MBps, but obviously did not have the ability to test this. I hope they keep making these, because it's a cool, compact package. It would be nice to have a Thunderbolt version.

    Rated 3 out of 5 by from Neat little box. I bought this in the hopes of using as a portable solution with RED 8K or 6K footage. I put two Samsung EVO 850 1TB drives in it and striped it in RAID 0 mode. The max speed I can get in RAID 0 is about 370MB/s, so it's not as fast as I hoped. This is likely because both drives have to share the same USB controller and because I'm using it not on USB 3.1 Gen 2 but USB 3.0 in a Mac Pro tower. So bottom line is it's not as fast as I hoped, but am considering keeping it as it's a cheap, portable SSD enclosure.I did talk to customer service about the issue and they were responsive.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from This little guy is fast! Finally received my new Macbook pro so I can use the USB-C connection. After anxiously waiting to test my new toys, I added 2x Sandisk x400 SSDs that I already had, then stripped them together using this enclosure. I'm seeing well over 800+ MB/s!!! No morewaiting long periods for my work to transfer! Enclosure has a very solid feel, built in all aluminum. USB-C cable was included with an adapter so I can use it with the older USB port. I'm new to the CineRAID products, but you just made a happy customer from me.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome little RAID enclosure I added 2x Sandisk 480GB SSD drives in RAID 0 and gives me about 800+ MB/s read speeds! I take this along to all my location sites and able to work on projects without any lag. Construction is very durable, all aluminum and very easy to install drives in it. Will be buying a second one soon.

I has great speed even with usb 3.0 and the option to get even higher speeds with the USB-C connection. This raid is bus powered and has the option of adding an additional 5v usb power for higher power drives. Overall solid enclosure.
