  • Synology DiskStation DS716+II 2-Bay NAS Enclosure

The Synology DiskStation DS716+II Two-Bay NAS Enclosure comes equipped with a quad-core Intel Celeron N3160 processor along with two drive bays to offer your system with fast file transfer speeds—even when handling encrypted data. The two bays can house 3.5" and 2.5" SATA III and SATA II hard drives and SSDs. Once your drives are installed, the DS716+II delivers read and write speeds up to 226.1 MB/s and 141.19 MB/s, respectively. You can manage the DS716+II with the pre-installed Synology DiskStation Manager, which is a browser-based operating system that lets you also download optional apps to make it more versatile. You may set up the DS716+II for virtualized environments or safeguard the office with the Surveillance Station app.

TThis two-bay NAS enclosure can be configured as a RAID 0 or 1 array. With optional expansion units, the DS716+II can support five additional drives to achieve even larger data capacities along with the ability to RAID your data in the configuration of 5, 6, or 10. In addition, you may link the DS716+II with a second DS716+II to ensure redundancy in the event the primary server fails.

Synology has outfitted the DiskStation DS716+II with three USB 3.0 ports as well as an eSATA port, so you can connect it with your printers and external storage drives. Network connectivity for file sharing is accomplished via dual Gigabit Ethernet ports. These ports also have Failover and Link Aggregation support, so data is reliably and quickly delivered. You can optimize RAID configuration with Synology Hybrid RAID (SHR) while providing redundant data protection. Other features such as multiple volumes on single RAID and Global Hot Spare also enhance management efficiency and fit deployment of any kind.
    Synology CMS (Central Management System)
For enterprises with more than one Synology NAS server, CMS offers the flexibility and convenience for IT administrators to manage all of them from a single point of entry. Through a simple interface, you can obtain a clear overview on resource consumption and logs, helping you identify any issue right away. With group policies, CMS can do much more for your daily tasks. Once a NAS joins a group, it will automatically adopt its rules and behave as intended, without extra configuration.
    Compatible Sharing
Enjoy seamless files sharing across Windows, Mac, and Linux platforms, as the DS716+II offers comprehensive network protocol support, including FTP, SMB2, AFP, NFS, and WebDAV. With Windows AD and LDAP integration, the DS716+II can fit effortlessly into any existing network environment—there is no need for IT administrators to maintain two sets of credentials. You also won't worry about missing files with the Recycle Bin feature, which is supported on AFP, CIFS, File Station, and WebDAV. All files deleted in a shared folder will be automatically moved into the Recycle Bin.
    Backup Solution
The Synology DS716+II can serve as a centralized backup target. Whether you are a Windows or Mac user, you can back up everything on your computer directly to Synology NAS using Cloud Station. Whenever you modify a file, the changes are backed up to DS716+II automatically. Mac users can also enjoy native Apple Time Machine support. You may also back up data from your DS716+II to another DiskStation, rsync servers, external drives, or even Amazon S3, Glacier cloud service, Microsoft Azure, SFR, and hicloud. The Backup & Replication feature allows you to schedule backup tasks and restore the server to any particular point in time, while minimizing storage consumption and processing time by saving only the specific data block that has been changed between versions.
    All-in-One Server
The DS716+II can act as a multi-function server that handles a vast amount of tasks. Directory Server provides LDAP service, while DNS and DHCP packages allow you to host a domain name server and automate network IP assignment at no extra cost. With Synology's Proxy Server, you can regulate content access and monitor who can access which website while saving bandwidth. You can host up to 30 websites with Web Station, safeguard the office environments with Surveillance Station, send and receive mails using your own email domain with Mail Station, share printing capability with Printer Server, make DS716+II act as a VPN server to access company's resources remotely, and more.
    Synology High Availability (SHA)
The DS716+II supports Synology High Availability (SHA) technology which combines an active and passive server into one cluster, the former always mirrored to the latter. The Heartbeat mechanism detects regular "heartbeats" between the two servers. If the main server encounters unexpected downtime, the passive server immediately takes over. With multiple LAN ports, the DS716+II also ensures redundancy in the event of unexpected network failure.
    Cloud Solution
Cloud Station sets up the DS716+II as your own private cloud easily, so you can sync files across multiple devices. Files can be edited in offline mode and later synced to Cloud Station, which keeps up to 32 historical versions, allowing you to restore a file back to previous version or recover deleted files. With the mobile app DS cloud, any change made to a file is automatically synced to your smartphones and tablets. For distributed enterprises, Synology's 2-way sync between different DiskStations ensures employees at different locations share the same information in real-time. IT administrators can handpick individual folders that they want to sync to different devices, manually or automatically based on file format and size. Folders synced by Cloud Station can be encrypted on DSM—no one will be able to access its content without your private key.
    Secure Your Data
The DS716+II offers advanced security measures to protect you from potential security holes. Security Advisor analyzes system settings, password strength, and network preferences and removes any possible malware. AppArmor blocks malicious programs from accessing unauthorized system resources. You can also customize the trust level in Package Center to avoid installing packages from untrusted sources, safeguarding your NAS from unknown or tampered files. In addition, the DS716+II provides other security add-ons, such as AES encryption, 2-Step verification, IP block & allow list, Antivirus packages, firewall, and DoS attack prevention.
    Eco-Friendly NAS Server
