Canon Lens Sets overview

  • 1Description

Expand your imaging capabilities with the Portrait & Travel 2 Lens Kit from Canon, which includes both the EF 50mm f/1.8 STM and EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM lenses. Ideally suited for APS-C shooters, this kit offers the wide-angle versatility of the 10-18mm zoom along with the bright 50mm prime that is well-suited for portraiture.

  • EF 50mm f/1.8 STM Lens

One of the most versatile focal lengths available, the EF 50mm f/1.8 STM Lens from Canon is a compact, normal-length prime well-suited to everyday shooting. The bright f/1.8 maximum aperture benefits working in difficult lighting conditions and also affords increased control over depth of field for isolating subject matter. Individual elements feature a Super Spectra coating to help minimize flare and ghosting to realize greater contrast and color accuracy when working in backlit and harsh conditions. Additionally, an STM stepping AF motor is used to realize quick and near-silent autofocus performance along with full-time manual focus override.

Normal-length prime is designed for full-frame Canon EF-mount DSLRs, however can also be used with APS-C models where it provides an 80mm equivalent focal length.
Bright f/1.8 maximum aperture enables control over depth of field for selective focus applications and also benefits working in low-light situations.
Super Spectra coating has been applied to individual elements to minimize ghosting and flare for greater contrast and color neutrality when working in strong lighting conditions.
An STM stepping AF motor realizes smooth, near-silent autofocus that is complemented by advanced AF algorithms and a high-speed CPU for fast AF performance. Additionally, full-time manual focus override is also available.
Redeveloped physical design incorporates a metal lens mount for durability as well as a re-located focusing ring to maintain a compact form factor.
Rounded seven-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing out of focus quality that benefits the use of shallow depth of field and selective focus techniques.

  • EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM Lens

A flexible wide-angle zoom in a compact form factor, the EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM from Canon is a 16-28.8mm equivalent lens designed for EF-S-mount DSLRs. Helping to reduce the overall size while maintaining high optical quality, a four-group zoom design is employed along with one ultra-low dispersion element, one aspherical element, and one large-diameter element to produce sharp, clear imagery void of chromatic and spherical aberrations. A Super Spectra coating has also been applied to suppress flare and ghosting for increased contrast and color neutrality. Benefitting both photo and video applications, an STM stepping AF motor is used to realize quick and near-silent autofocus performance along with full-time manual focus override. Additionally, a four-stop-effective Image Stabilizer system is also featured and minimizes the appearance of camera shake for sharper handheld shooting.

Wide-angle zoom is designed for APS-C-format Canon EF-S-mount DSLRs and provides a 16-28.8mm equivalent focal length range.
One ultra-low dispersion glass element noticeably reduces color fringing and chromatic aberrations for high clarity and color fidelity.
One aspherical element limits distortion and spherical aberration in order to realize greater sharpness and accurate rendering.
Super Spectra coating has been applied to individual elements to minimize ghosting and flare for greater contrast and color neutrality when working in strong lighting conditions.
An Optical Image Stabilizer helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake by up to four shutter speed stops to better enable working in low-light conditions and with slower shutter speeds.
An STM stepping AF motor realizes smooth, near-silent autofocus that is complemented by a rear focus system, advanced AF algorithms, and a high-speed CPU for fast AF performance. Additionally, full-time manual focus override is also available.
Rounded seven-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing out of focus quality that benefits the use of shallow depth of field and selective focus techniques.

Canon Lens Sets reviews

Portrait & Travel 2 Lens Kit with 50mm f/1.8 and 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 Lenses is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 38.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Still learning but I'm am not unhappy I bought this lens kit Honestly I am still becoming acquainted with the lenses (as well as the Rebel T5 they are used with). I did take a few pictures with the 10-18 wide angle lens and liked how they came out. Recently I am testing the 50mm prime lens for its ability in low light however during this testing I am also learning what the Rebel T5 can do in concert with the Canon lens. I have a lot to still learn but I see much potential even though this is entry level photography. I am enthusiastic to learn more, and encouraged that Canon has built many quality features into this lens kit and their entry level camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lenses at a great price These are not professional lenses. They are less robust & priced for a prosumer. But the images from my first tests show Canon's continued marketing to deliver a better product than the price point would reflect. I purchased these because (1) I wanted a faster slight telephoto for low light, and the 50mm does just that (approx. 80mm on my 60D) and (2) I wanted to shoot in a more extreme wide angle and the 10-18mm hasn't disappointed me. My first tests were in a sunlit office building atrium and both lenses performed very well. I've also used the 50mm in a dark church with great success. Colors & contrast look great. As much as I would enjoy having EF lenses, these EF-S lenses get me back out & shooting for a lot less money. Very pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these two lenses! I was finally able to take my first DSLR (and these lenses) out today to a car show. The 10-18 allowed me to get so close to subjects and get tons of detail in the frame. The 50mm is probably my favorite because of the detail it offers at extremely close distances. I'm happy I found this kit on sale for Black Friday but I would consider it a deal at B&H's regular price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WOW! So, I stopped being cheap and ordered the kit. These lenses have opened up another world for me in photography! I didn't know what I was missing. With the 50mm I get great portraits and with the 10-18mm I can get the group shots I've been wanting. The price for the package couldn't be beat. I had to buy it! Well pleased with this purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great price for great lenses Great addition to my lens collection. The Canon 50mm f/1.8 STM is an amazing sharp lens which performs excellent in low light. The Canon 10-18 finally gives me a real 'wide angle' since I'm using a crop sensor camera (focal length * 1.6 crop factor). The lens is very light, well built for it's price. Overall - great value for money

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A good buy! The nifty 50 is a great little lens with a wide aprature for a budget price. The STM makes the AF buttery smooth and very quiet. The 10-18 AF is also pretty good. My two biggest gripes are the aprature f3.5 and it is very plasticy and doesn't feel like it could withstand a drop. The 50mm STM tho plastic feels sturdy. But for the price you pay for two good lenses is worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best choice for beginner's 2nd and 3rd lens. Amazing product for its price. Both are must have in their category, although I would prefer two prime lens instead of a prime plus a zoom, but since I am buying this for my beginner cousin, zoom length does provide some flexibility for her. Would be better if they have infinity zoom. Both have better USM version with wider zoom and smaller focal, cost triple, not recommend, just buy these two and keep them. Be sure you get a hood if you are like me who don't like lens cap. I don't think there is any needs to talk about the picture quality, both of them are must have, so buy it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect Entry Level Package Great for an entry level kit. The 50mm 1.8 is perfect for people that are looking for that blurry background. It is perfect for the casual filmmaker that is looking for a solid look. It is also great in low light. The 10-18 is a great wide angle lens but not the best in low light.
