Peak Design BB-30-BL-1 overview

  • 1Description

Designed for the creative and active individual alike, the new 30L charcoal Everyday Backpack from Peak Design is the larger Everyday that has been fashioned to fit those taller than 5'5" while holding a couple of full frame DSLR bodies with 3-6 lenses. A dedicated laptop sleeve fits a 16" laptop and 11" tablet. Three Flexfold touch fastening dividers can be configured to create cubbies and pass-throughs to protect a variety of camera and lens combinations among other types of gear. The Maglatch system allows your bag to expand if you find yourself carrying even more gear than usual. Dual exterior side pockets and a compression strap can keep a tripod, umbrella, or water bottle securely attached to your backpack.

A top zippered pocket provides quick access to your phone, keys, and small items you need to retrieve often. Sub-divided interior pockets provide additional organization allowing you to separate your cables, batteries, and other small accessories, eliminating time spent digging around for a specific item. Adjustable backpack straps and an adjustable sternum strap keep your backpack firmly and comfortably in place when worn on your back. A top grab handle and side briefcase style strap provide alternative carrying methods. For long days of travel when you don't want to carry the bag at all, a pass-through luggage strap allows you to position your bag securely on your rolling suitcase. The Everyday Backpack is made of durable Kodra fabric with a weatherproof DWR coating.

  • Holds 2-3 camera bodies and 3-6 lenses depending on combination.
  • Multiple zippered & slip pockets provide quick access & organization.
  • Flexfold Dividers configure to your needs & equipment.
  • The Maglatch closure allows for quiet and easy expansion.
  • Adjustable backpack straps, a top grab handle, side briefcase style strap, and luggage pass through provide multiple comfortable carrying methods.
  • Kodra fabric, a weatherproof DWR coat, and weatherproof zippers protect your gear if caught in inclement weather.

    Peak Design BB-30-BL-1 reviews

Everyday Backpack (30L, Charcoal) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 44.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very versatile camera bag This is a very versatile camera bag. The design is well thought out and the bag is easily customizable tailoring its configuration to work with your specific equipment. With the unique dividers, I configured the main compartment to accommodate my Nikon D500 with vertical grip and 18-200mm lens attached. Still plenty of room for my 35mm, 50mm and 85mm plus filters, accessories, memory cards, cables, etc. Accessibility to your equipment is great. I am extremely happy with the backpack and I am consider replacing my Tenba Executive Computer bag with the purchase of the 20L version of the Everyday Backpack to use as my office computer bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pricey, but worth it Use this backpack as both a "full kit" bag to carry my 35mm DSLR + Medium format film systems in one unit and as a daily bike commuter bag to carry my work laptop, work clothes, and paperwork, and still be able to have my base camera kit (Nikon D750, Nikon F100, Sigma 35mm f/1.4, and Nikon 24-120mm f/4.) Plenty of room for everything without feeling overly stuffed.Paired with an addition set of internal dividers for the full kit carry, and a Field Pouch for organization of small items. Great construction - clear that this is going to be a long-wearing product. Comfortable on the bike or walking around, and easy to access gear when you need it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unbelievable Backpack I've owned several nice backpacks throughout the years, but this one truly is the best of the bunch. I own a C100 and Canon 5D, and this stylish low-profile bag can actually carry both of them with ease. I own the Tenba II, which is a much bulkier bag that is good for when I'm on set... but if I'm traveling abroad its somewhat of a bullseye. I had not seen any videos or read any reviews on this bag, and kind of just bought it in-store based on the sleek look and spacious interior. As I started to load my equipment in and really test this thing out, I realized how unbelievable this bag is. The material, the simplicity, the amount of space, the ability to customize it... I never write reviews for gear, but this bag earned it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from In love after 3 weeks After researching many camera backpacks and looking for something that combined usability with design, I chose the Peak Design Everyday Backpack. I don’t have a ton of gear to carry yet, but everything fit nicely. I’m super happy I went with the 30L. The straps are really comfortable and I considered all the cons I heard (no full back access to gear only side) and none of them really bothered me. The only downside I saw, which was an easy fix with some gear on the other side was just the stability of the dividers when folded up and a camera+lens pushing down on the tab(gravity and all).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Camera Bag on the Market I have been using the bag as a camera and everyday bag since it was released. The large space available has been perfect for everyday use and for big photo shoots. The water proof function allows me to take comfort in knowing that when it rains I do not have to worry about anything in my bag getting wet. It is super rugged and it still looks like new even after using it everyday since I have bought it. It is honestly the best camera bag and everyday backpack that I have seen and or used. I have not used or seen a bag that has come anywhere close to the performance, reliability, and functionality of the Peak Design Everyday Backpack. I highly recommend this bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect backpack for work and camera play For years I've been going to work with my laptop in a regular backpack, you know the kind with a laptop pocket and a big pocket along with a few nooks and crannies to put other doodads. Sometimes I also included a tablet, headphones, sunglasses, and a few other odds and ends. Maybe a light pull-over windbreaker for windy cold days, but then it was stuffed! So if I wanted to take along a camera, which I often do, then I either had to shoehorn a small SLR film body with 50mm pancake in my backpack or else I had to carry an additional external camera bag if I wanted any larger camera gear. I was doing this very often, but I grew tired of carrying 2 bags all the time. All the other camera backpacks seemed either too big and bulky, or they were only set up for small cameras. The Peak Design Everyday 30L backpack is the perfect solution to my dilemma, as its name implies. It very comfortably stows everything my regular backpack could hold, and then also has additional room for a gripped pro body with a holy trinity and a couple flash units and a tripod too...whoa! It has none of the dangling straps of my older backpacks, and looks very sleek. It is comfortable. It seems to hold on to my back like a clingy child. The seatbelt-style straps are very easy to adjust. The build quality is superb. What else could I say? Well...even after watching all of the videos PD and their reviewers made, I was still impressed when I held the actual product in my hands. It is MUCH more robust and tough than it appears. The outer fabric shell has been treated very extensively and forms a nice rigid protective shell. I was initially concerned about the sideways storage system, but I've grown to love it. It is very easy to get into the back from either side pocket, and even though it seems like it would be easy for stuff to rattle around or shift inside the bag it actually stays quite snug inside the closed side pockets. I have used the backpack in winter weather a bit, including with several layers of shirts, a heavy sweater, and a heavy leather coat. The backpack still fits pretty well, although the sternum strap becomes more difficult to hook up while wearing it over such bulky clothing. Nevertheless, it seems to adjust and fit well to a variety of body sizes. With the straps and snug fit, it also works well riding a bicycle. In summary, this is a perfect everyday backpack, it does everything I need it to do: carry my laptop (work gear) and camera+lenses (fun gear). This is going to be my backpack that I carry everyday for a very very very long time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A near-perfect bag crippled by comfort and the lack of it I travel nearly every week for work (unrelated to photography) and I saw this as being the perfect bag for carrying everything I need for work and some camera gear. This part is true - it carried my 2 bodies, extra lens, DJI spark, and had room for my computer and some clothes. However, once I packed everything up with a full load (the top was not extended) the straps were incredibly uncomfortable. I traveled with it for an entire day through airports and could not, for the life of me, find a comfortable position. The straps were too narrow and "sharp" on the edges which caused pinch points on my neck and armpits. Using the chest strap did not help much and unfortunately I had to return the bag. Really upsetting since it's a fantastic bag but it just seems like too much thought was put into the design of the straps and not how effective they will be at dispersing a full load out. (for reference I'm 6'1" tall with semi-broad shoulders)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bag! Worth the extra $$$ This bag is a rockstar! It's worth the price tag! For a recent wedding shoot, we carried: 2 Canon Mark IIIs (One with a Battery grip) 70-200m 17-40m 24-70m Nifty 50 50m (1.2) Flash 8 Batteries 3.5x7 Memory Card Carrying Case 15in MBP (+Charger) Was it snug? Absolutely. However, the weight was distributed really well and we actually got 3-4 compliments on the bag alone. The inner side pockets were incredibly practical and that's where we were able to zip up anything that would float around. In addition, the detachable key loop on the side of the bag was a nice touch!
