Synology DS416play reviews

DiskStation 24TB DS416play 4-Bay NAS Server Kit (4 x 6TB) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid but some flaws Overall, it is a really solid system that does what it is supposed to. We put 4 6TB drives into the system and used the Synology's RAID system. The biggest drawback if you are looking to run an iTunes server is that their software does not allow for a separation of Movies and TV Shows when viewing through iTunes. Same with the representation of graphics from the movies, etc. when looking at them on screen. Totally bummed by this revelation but Synology's customer service has been helpful in figuring this out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SYNOLOGY DS416Play I have owned the product for about two weeks and I love it. It is a little complicated at first to set up but once you get the hang of it it's not so bad but I would recommend this to anyone it is awesome. You will not regret getting this product for sure. I have had a Seagate NAS before and it sucked. The SYNOLOGY is rocksolid compared to anything else I've seen.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great NAS - minor issues need to be resolved Great NAS - ran 4x6TB drives in synology SHR format w/ btfps files system - works well across MAC and Windows platforms. Setup is incredibly easy - although the OS will automatically puch Synology proprietary features if you don't do a manual configuration (ex: SHR raid will be auto-selected instead of RAID 5) - not too big of a deal since they work pretty much the same. SHR auto-enables future expansion if required. Only major gripe - no support for cloud-syncing files from the SD card on a Samsung mobile device which is very irritating. You have to save all your files (i.e. photos) to your device stoarge if you want it to backup automatically. I think there may be an alternate solution but I think it requires that you downlaod a separate app for exploring mobile files and creating a specially named folder. Not a complete deal breaker, but it seems like this is an issue that could be addressed with a software patch. Also, streaming video via browser does not work very well - the full screen doesn't actually go full screen - could probably be fixed by using Plex, but it's another thing that work properly without jumping through extra hoops.
