I'm glad I ordered the 450 instead of the 350. The backpack is smaller than it looks. Quality is nice and also lightweight. I will probably have to get something bigger later on. This will work for now.

Perfect for Long Day Hikes

I've used this pack now on a couple on difficult 6 hours hikes up steep mountain trails. It replaced an old Lowepro Rover I'd used for years but was showing it's age. The Flipside is much more comfortable on your back than the old Rover I was surprised how much better it felt it seemed lighter and much more stable. The side pocket are large and deep perfect for large water bottles and other larger items you my need quick access too. I have my water bottle and bear spray in one pocket ( perfectly secure ) and my tripod on the other side. The camera compartment is large enough for 2 lenses; mirrorless full frame Sony A7R II with lens; 2 filters; personal land based beacon; 2 filters; 6 camera batteries; small spare tripod ball head; head lamp & small flashlight; Giottos blower. The upper compartment has plenty of room for lunch; spare water bottle; micro spikes; sunglasses, hat ( in winter toque and spare gloves ). Room for any miscellaneous items you may need on a long day hike. In the mesh pocket I have my wireless shutter remote; spare AA and AAA batteries. In the front pocket I put both my rain jacket and rain pants flat folded; emergency blanket; wallet & cell phone. In that mesh pocket I have my lens clothes; micro fiber cloth and travel packet of tissue. I can get everything I need for long summer or winter day hikes in this pack. It is extremely comfortable on your back ( much more so than my old Rover I was really surprised). All the straps and buckles all work perfectly and are neat and tidy. The material seems robust and steady for a pack of this price point should be durable no problem. What I love the most is how easy it is to access everything in or on this pack it so easy to get at any compartment and find your stuff. My old Rover was awkward at best compared to this well thought out and design pack. Highly recommended.

Before I purchased this I was content using my old hunting backpack. When I switched to this my world changed. Very comfortable with enough storage for all my gear. Plus it has a waterproof slip cover which is awesome when it is raining or snowing out. Can't believe I went so long without it!

I’ve been using my backpack to bring my camera lenses and bulky underwater housing to and from the beach and it’s been great! I was able to change the inside to properly fit all my equipment, it’s keeping everything protected and ready to shoot!

It's a photo bag. Not much else

I give up on photo bags. I do a lot of hiking and long day hikes to take pictures. I've tried so many bags and this was supposed to be the answer to all my previous issues of long hikes with camera gear. It's not. This bag is of good quality and does a good job organizing photography gear, but it's weak as a hiking backpack. It doesn't hold much personal/hiking gear like jackets, food, rain protection and other gear. And the lack of any kind of frame/suspension means it poorly supports the weight. It's only good for hikes where your camera gear is all you need. I will be switching to a dedicated Gregory 40-50L hiking bag and using a LowePro GearUp cube for the camera and a couple accessory bags for the associated camera gear. The suspension system of the Gregory bags is far superior to anything else, except maybe a F-Stop, but those bag are out of my budget. The Gregory bag can is more versatile than an F-stop anyway and can be used without any camera gear when I want to just hike.

Fits all of my camera gear.

Will this fit Nikon D500 200 500 without lens removal?
Asked by: Ramkumar
The backpack has two compartments. a top compartment and a larger, lower compartment. you would be able to fit a D500 with a 24-70 or 105 micro in the top. I can fit my D850 with a Sigma 150-600 bottom.

I see no evidence in the photos of “Body Side Access.” Is it actually there on the BP 450 or is this mislisted? Does someone have a pic of the opening in the side if it is there? Thanks!!
Asked by: Laird
"Body Side Access" means that the opening for the camera would be against the body when wearing the backpack. The camera opening is securely against your back which helps from theft of your gear when wearing your backpack in busy urban areas, and it allows you to access your gear while wearing the backpack with the attached waist belt, and/or allows you to place your pack on the ground without getting dust or debris in the backpack or putting dirt on the back of the case. The images on our website show the opening on the side of the case closest to your back when wearing the backpack. There is no side access for this case, only body-side access. If you click the "Show More" link under the image, it will show more images of the case, including images of the open case, and the last image is an image of a model wearing the case and open while accessing the gear as described above.

question

I have a Canon 60D with an 18-55m lens; Canon 100-400mm; and a Tokina 11-16mm. Will this set up fit in the 350? What about in the 450?
Asked by: Christine S.
Because of the size of the 100-400mm, the Flipside 450 would be a much easier fit for all your gear. It could work with the 350 but it would be a very tight fit.

Will a Peak Capture plate attach to the straps on ...

Will a Peak Capture plate attach to the straps on this pack?
Asked by: Dan
As the bag itself has no arca-swiss clamp, there will be no way to attach the plate to the bag. However, if you mean attaching the Peak Design Capture Clip system, there are several places where the clip can be attached. The straps taper out and can be snuggly fit over the thickest part of the material. If your equipment isn't too heavy (medium-SLR or mirrorless) you can also attach it to several of the thinner-material straps that are on the main shoulder straps. In either case, we recommend that you use the hex-head fastening screws rather than the normal ones.
