Schneider 138mm MPTV Platinum IRND 2.4 Filter
Key Features
  • IR Control and 2.4 ND Filter
  • Corrects Infrared Pollution
  • Water-White Glass
The Schneider 138mm MPTV Platinum IRND 2.4 Filter is a combination of both an infrared control filter and a 2.4 neutral density filter. There is a 2.4 density for darkening of the entire image in order to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. The IR control filtration is specifically designed for use with CCD or CMOS sensors in order to filter out infrared light pollution causing color shifts that are commonly associated with high definition recording. By using this control filter you can achieve a wider color gamut and stronger color fidelity, especially noticeable in the shadows and darker regions of the image.

Schneider Platinum Overview

These filters are free of off-axis color shift regardless of the focal length of the lens and can be stacked together for higher degrees of neutral density without creating reflections common to dichroic filters. The 2.4 density provides a 8 stop reduction in light from entering the lens. The filter diameter measures 138mm and is compatible with 138mm drop-in filter holders. It is constructed from water-white glass.

Combination of both an infrared control filter and a neutral density filter.
Designed for use with CCD or CMOS sensors in order to filter out infrared light pollution causing color shifts that are commonly associated with high definition recording.
2.4 ND filter darkens the image, allowing you to photograph with a longer shutter speed or wider aperture than normally required.
Improved color fidelity and wider gamut that is especially noticeable in the shadows and darker regions of the image.
Made using crystal-clear water-white optical glass and engineered for the greatest smoothness, consistency, and uniformity.

question

The description says These filters are free of off-axis color shift regardless of the focal length of the lens and can be stacked together for higher degrees of neutral density without creating reflections common to dichroic filters. Does this mean they can be stack with another Schneider IRND filter, or can they only be stacked with a non-IR filter?
Asked by: Robert
Schneider is referring to stacking the MPTV Platinum IRND filters. You can stack other filters but the benefit of the MPTV filters is changed by using other filters.
