EVGA GTX 1060 SC overview

  • 1Description

With an overclocked core and based on NVIDIA's Pascal architecture, the EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 SC GAMING Graphics Card provides major improvements in performance, memory bandwidth, and power efficiency over its predecessor, the high-performance Maxwell architecture. It also introduces innovative graphics features and technologies that redefine the computer as the platform for playing AAA games and taking full advantage of virtual reality via NVIDIA VRWorks.

The front panel of the card features a variety of outputs. There are three DisplayPort 1.4 outputs in addition to an HDMI 2.0b output and a DVI-D Dual-Link output. The GTX 1060 is not just about high-resolution gaming. Computationally intensive programs can utilize the GPU's 1152 cores to accelerate tasks using CUDA or other APIs.

EVGA's single fan ACX 2.0 Cooler quietly keeps the card's operating temperature in check. The fan is driven by a low-power motor and features swept blades and double ball bearings to increase efficiency.

VRWorks
VRWorks Graphics includes a simultaneous multi-projection capability that renders natively to the unique dimensions of VR displays instead of traditional 2D monitors. It also renders geometry for the left and right eyes simultaneously in a single pass.

VRWorks Audio uses the NVIDIA OptiX ray-tracing engine to trace the path of sounds across an environment in real-time, fully reflecting the size, shape, and material of the virtual world.

NVIDIA PhysX for VR detects when a hand controller interacts with a virtual object, and enables the game engine to provide a physically accurate visual and haptic response. It also models the physical behavior of the virtual world around the user so that all interactions -- whether an explosion or a hand splashing through water -- behave as if in the real world.
NVIDIA Ansel
With Ansel, gamers can compose the gameplay shots they want, pointing the camera in any direction and from any vantage point within a gaming world. They can capture screenshots at up to 32 times the screen resolution, and then zoom in where they choose without losing fidelity. With photo-filters, they can add effects in real-time before taking the shot. And they can capture 360-degree stereo photospheres for viewing in a VR headset or Google Cardboard.
CUDA
With CUDA, NVIDIA allows applications to hand off CPU-intensive tasks to the GPU. Your GPU is no longer just used for rendering graphics, but it can provide teraflops of floating point performance and accelerate application tasks, from real-time video rendering to fluid dynamics simulation. CUDA is used in many applications and games.
G-SYNC Ready
When used with a monitor that has G-SYNC hardware installed, the monitor's refresh rate will sync and lock with the graphics card's output frame rate. Establishing this sync removes tearing and stuttering which can result from conventional fixed screen refresh rates, especially important for gaming in stereoscopic 3D. An additional benefit of G-SYNC is reduced lag so gamers will benefit from the improved command response time as well.
NVIDIA GPU Boost 3.0
Boosts the card's clock speed in real-time based on the target temperature. If the card is running below the set target temperature, GPU Boost 3.0 will increase the clock speed to improve performance. The target temperature can be reset depending on your preference so you can have the card run more quietly for everyday tasks and older games, and run at full tilt during intense high-resolution gaming sequences.

    EVGA GTX 1060 SC reviews

GeForce GTX 1060 SC GAMING Graphics Card is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 25.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent price, excellent performance Excellent purchase, I saw this review from an Uruguayan stating that anyone over there is not allowed to import gadgets over $200 without having to pay extra taxes. Well, I'm Uruguayan myself and I can confirm that it's true, that's the reason I chose this card and bought it for $199.99 when it was on offer, lol. 'Been using the card for a couple of days now and there's been no prob. at all, I was playing Fallout 4 using a GTX 560 under medium settings and the changes made by installing this card are breath taking, with this I can play on high ultra settings... there's no comparison whatsoever. Recommended for everyone on a budget who wants to have some real bang for the buck.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for 1080p gaming. After my R9 270x 2GB failed I was looking for an upgrade for around $200. This card delivered beautifully. I can run all current gen games on High/Ultra at 1080p and rarely dip below 60 FPS (consistently higher for most titles). I was worried the 3 GB model (which also has lower shader count) would be a bottleneck but after reading a bunch of reviews and benchmarks decided to take a chance, especially with the EVGA OC card being so cheap. I have no regrets after a couple of weeks with this card. As long as you have no plans to go higher than 1080p for now I would 100% recommend this card.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great value card imo did a ton of research before deciding on a 3g 1060, for moderate gamers such as myself it hits a sweet spot in terms of price/performance for mid range cards in late 2017. I have a 1080p monitor with no plans of moving to 1440 or 4k anytime soon so for recent and most upcoming games believe 3g vram is plenty. for me that makes it a much better buy than the 6g 1060 since the price difference isn't small. this specific factory overclocked evga card gets good marks for performance wherever I looked so is the one I settled on. b&h is a great place to buy and thankfully caught this card on sale. b&h's reputation for customer service is well deserved imo, there ended up being a glitch which they fixed immediately and couldn't be happier with them or the card.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good card at the $250 level, not so good at the $320 level I admit, I started mining. I got these cards because there were no others. At the low $200 level, these are worth it (to me) if there are no others available. But once they start selling for low $300's I have to say they are no longer a good value. I like the EVGA brand and their warranty (I had to use it recently on a 1080ti). I would buy these again in the lower $200 level when they become available at that price again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good card at a good price. Good card at a good price, especially since the 1070's and 1080's are so expensive. I upgraded from a GTX760 to run my new Acer Z35 monitor. I am a gamer and the difference in frame rates from my old gpu is very very improved. I recommend this card for any one that wants a good gpu without paying $500 bucks because of inflated prices due to all the bit miners.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Size, quiet, and overkill for my usage I bought a 27" 4K LG monitor for my workstation. I was using a 10 year old AMD video card that was capable of running the monitor at 4k resolution 60hz, but only for normal workstation stuff. Actually, there was an occasional glitch here and there, but nothing crazy. I'm not a gamer, but all of the PC benchmark utilities showed that the video card was quite lagging compared to the rest of my system so I wanted to upgrade. Figuring I would keep the card for another 10 years (LOL) I wanted to get something good, and this card fit the bill. Installed without a problem, no more glitches, and the passmark benchmark puts my computer in the 99th percentile now! That alone is worth it for me even if I never play a game on this PC :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 1080P gaming For what I using it for, gaming on a 1080p tv, it works perfectly. Maxed out Destiny 2 and it doesn't dip below 60 fps.
